Weathering n panel lines need more learning.
The IAR-80 was decent price from HB and liked the paint scheme...bit different

Nice to have the interest, HB instructions bit weak!
They said to paint interior charcoal black like on the FW-190.
But l checked n the Romanian lAR interior was grey/blue.
Engine building next 6 parts deal.

A small amount of the wing is seen through bottom of cockpit, the HB instructions didn't mention painting it first!!
But the fit of the model be ok so far.

Mr DHi, Yes lve used it alot and holds up really well , l find the fillers a bit messy and more trouble than it's worth on small gaps.
You do need to allow overnight drying with it for best sanding results.

Mr DYes it has a habit of filling in panel lines n bits not necessary!!
This technique is same as using alot of paint to fill a gap or high build primer ect...just becomes part of the paint layer as it acrylic too.
But it's not for big gaps!! As there is a bit of shrinking overnight.
Be onto marking rivets next step after sanding... Then need to make choices on open or closed canopy???

Ive got the canopy on now, HB do nice clear glass, so I'm having a closed cockpit,
So bit of masking to do there next.
Ive got X2 builds on the go at min.

Mr DThanks Miguel, the pen needs a good shake prior to use , if it awkward area you can pump some out n use brush...but work fast.
Best to put a clear over next day as it's bit delicate.

Mr DOk thanks Alexander, HB didnt make the Mast installation very clear, the show it just glued on the top, will be very weak!! I've seen one build and it's come away!!

Yes they were heavily influenced by German technology, the Germans wanted them to help support on the eastern front and protect the oilfields there.
It's a nice looking Aircraft, l liked the colour scheme and thought it be nice change n addition to my collection.
Canopy a nice easy mask.

I only just found your Album on IAR,
It's very good.... I've only been in the hobby for Months and im learning really, l know the antenna isn't accurate, l wanted it to be strong n durable.

gorbyOnly a tiny number of people will either know or care if the antenna isn't accurate Mr D – I didn't know and now that I do, I still don't care. 😄
The antenna looks good and that's all that matters, that fact you've managed to get as good as you have at modelling in such a short space of time is remarkable.
At the end of the day it's only a bloody model and this is only a bloody hobby – not a moral crusade to populate the planet with totally accurate replicas of the real thing. I haven't got a problem if other people want to count every rivet on their own model, but annoys me when they expect it of others.

The Antenna design was begging to break n go wrong the designed way, first antenna...l want to play bit safe.
Everyone has different abilities and l respect them all.

I will have to look up the PZL P.24 .
There is a YouTube video about the IAR-80 l watched it was quite interesting, the Germans supplied them with some tech, l know the fuselage had to be extended to get CG right.... hence the long fornt-end.
I really liked the look of the model and the colour scheme..... I thought it would make a nice addition to my display.....bit of variation.
The Soviet's ended up with a few after the war .....and used them as fighter trainers....Just green with red star.

Nathan DempseyWell we survived that darn hurricane and had power restored yesterday by some fine Canadian fellows from Nova Scotia. The project continues with some progress to the fuselage.

Clifford KeeslerWatching. Glad you weathered the hurricane ok. Did not know you were in Florida. I am a transplanted Florida guy. I am from Panama City. Was down there the end of August, first time I had been back since 2001. Hurricane Michael sure messed up the place, but they have rebuilt a lot. The house I lived in from 1995-2001 no longer exist, hurricane Michael leveled it.

Nathan DempseyWe were part of mandatory evac. I sent the family away and stayed since my parents are next door in a 100 year old frame home. We were lucky and had minimal damage. We just lost large oaks and our entire cow field was a shallow lake. Power was out for a while but I'm used to living simple during such times. Yeah Michael was a monster.
The plastic in this kit is quite fragile. Getting parts off the tree cleanly is quite difficult. Very happy with the ResKit parts! They are very clean and easy to prepare.

Nathan DempseyMore work today included adding etched parts to the rear fuselage and filling large holes intended for oversized antennas. Will be replacing all antennas with etched parts or thin plastic sheet.

Dutch: Same here. Still cutting downed trees and burning it all. Too much to place by the streets. The Mirage waits in the stash and the Jag was built as a close copy of my Kosovo build and given to a friend.

Desert MarlinLooks great! I suppose you are aware that the Mirage 2000 series aircraft have the option of an arresting hook or a parachute for landing? I believe either can be installed but only one of the two depending on airfields and conditions. Referring to photo #5.

I found a good picture of a '91 Mirage 2000 with the bigger chaff dispenser replacing the back of that housing. I'll need to go back and file that off and change the position of all the chaff dispensers. I'll add some pictures this evening.

Desert MarlinAfter two hours, the whole cockpit, wings and "fuselage" were together. I got totally sucked in after the first two hours and it really got in the way of other projects! So fun!!!

Desert MarlinBiggest issue is the choice of D-Day markings. The white bands are 60 mm on each wing and on the booms. This makes the individual stripes 12 mm. Pretty easy once you see it. I started out with 50 mm white band. That was clearly too short.

Best story around Robin Olds in a P-38 was that he got behind a flight of 109's.....he was ready to open fire when his engines cut - dead. He had forgot to switch tanks to his internals when he jettisoned his external tanks. Instead of resolving his fuel transfer issues he just carried on lining up on the 109 and shot it down while in 'glide mode'. That's calmness under pressure for you.

The nose wheel appears elevated because I use a sheet of glass on my bench. The glass is 1/4" thickness.

Desert MarlinHi George. I would be careful with the KitsWorld decals. They really don't have much film on them. I recommend getting the decal placed and see if it needs any attention after it dries. Aggressive setting solutions are not needed. Go slow!

Desert MarlinDavid H, the clean finish presumes they just received these birds from other squadrons that were at the time converting to the new P-51's. This particular bird was cleaned up and hastily painted with stripes. Not long after all this, Olds moved over to the new P-51D, which is why I have another. of the Tamiya P-51Ds so I can make it up as SCAT III... in 1/32nd Scale.

Kesa TihoYeah, having had used similar kits they dont usually come with an instruction sheet. Most likely just suggestions where to put them and if any assembly is required the instructions have usually been on the back of the box.

Mina Royeah i think its a copy of the legend set, legend usually does include a sheet of instructions as far as where things go. Its ok we can always use pics online I guess to put things in places. It would of been cool if paint color suggestions had been included. So many chinese kits have no documentation of the units in their decals or any paint callouts in these modern kits like hobbyboss or some trumpeter, it can be annoying.
