Thanx mates! @Tim, yes it was funny! But I made only one set - it is good to have a good modeling friend who knows to cast in resin😉

A little more progress on my Kilo sub dio. To bring more life to the floating drydock I added some vents, a control box, crane tracks, external tanks and a small hut. Still in progress are some lanterns and scaffolds to use for maintenance work around the sub. I use styrene and L?Arsenal PE parts for all the extra parts.
Happy modeling, Christian

Hello Christian. This drydock (and the sub, of course) is a great idea and work from you. With the drydock in resin you may do something very good for shipmodelers and your personal cash-situation!😢

Hi Holger, for sure, but you need a lot of resoureces and knowledge how to cast resin etc. ! And with my less time for modelmaking I'm happy to building my models😉

Hi Mates, thanx for your kind comments! There was some real work to do during the last two days but also a bit time for modelmaking! I have added some more details and a further gangway to the working platform. Today I spent some time with test fits of a carriage for gas bottles and a welding transformer. Cheers, Christian

@Holger, you really know about the size of the Cent😉 Uahhha, I like it to add more and more small details😉 Today I build a cross tie and a small work place with some trestles. The dock gangway is now bounded by some Eduard railings. Except some tiny parts the dock now should be ready for some paint. Merry Christmas to all of you ? Cheers Christian

Thanx mates for your interest and your very kind comments!
I applied a first coat of paint to all the diorama parts. I used a blue grey for the dry dock and a blue grey mixed with dark brown and red for the docks ground. To get a first weathering effect I shaded the panels along the panel lines in a darker tone and highlighted the inner panels. I used Vallejo Color and Vallejo Air and mixed the colors until I?m satisfied with the result. The scaffolds are painted red brown and all the small parts in different shades of grey and blue grey.
Cheers, Christian

Hi Christian, very nice result so far. Is the "red" on the submarine standard red, or some special mix?

Amazing details on this scale, very nice scratchwork ,love it 🙂

Thanx, your comments are much appreciated.
@Tim, the red is a special mix. I used different shades of red, Vellejo Color and Vallejo Air, and mixed it untill I'm confident with the color tone.
Cheers, Christian

Hi DFGH, thanx for your kind comment. Long time no hear mate! Applying Decals is not my favourite in modelmaking, but in this case it worked well. Cheers, Christian

Today I start detail painting and weathering the main parts form y Kilo class sub diorama. I paint the dock bearings in a dark and rusty color, the wooden blocks on top of the bearings are yellow ochre. After that I applied a heavy coat of dark brown shades of oil color diluted with lighter fluid. The dock floor is also heavily weathered with undiluted oil color. I used a soft cloth to blur the oil color and meld it with the base color. I did the same with the dock?s side wall but with a more subtle weathering. I used streaks of oil color to get a more weathered and worn look at the side wall. Now the oil color need some time to dray before I can start to highlight the structure and details. Cheers, Christian

I have added the last three photos today. The Kilo is finished now. I worked only from time to time on this project but it was always fun. I hope I captured a dry dock scene as good as possible. It was important to find the right balance of details. Hope you like it - cheers, Christian
