Sherman M4 A2 and LCM Mklll.
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/7/1/1/1728711-26091-25-720.jpg)
The sprues have a little flash, but nothing dramatic to worry about. No fine parts that could be accidentally damaged 😉
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/7/1/2/1728712-26091-92-720.jpg)
Very simplified appearance, so there are opportunities to add some details.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/7/1/0/1728710-26091-56-720.jpg)
Today's progress.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/7/0/9/1728709-26091-28-720.jpg)
Some filling of ejector pin marks, then the suspension and wheels added. Every wheel requires the hole to be drilled to match the axles. Originally, the wheels were moulded to create the holes between the 'spokes', but these are generally all closed with flash, and I don't have the right skills to open them up again.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/7/1/3/1728713-26091-13-720.jpg)
I'm not sure if this is meant to be a closed deck, or have grills. I'll have to find out....
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/7/1/4/1728714-26091-23-720.jpg)
I hate an open turret like this, so I'll have fun closing them off.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/7/1/5/1728715-26091-79-720.jpg)
The turret had a horrid 'chin', so I'll remove it.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/7/1/6/1728716-26091-93-720.jpg)
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/7/1/7/1728717-26091-81-720.jpg)
The blobby moulding of a side hatch is just too ugly, so will be removed, and a new hatch added.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/7/1/8/1728718-26091-81-720.jpg)
Almost ready to be fitted. I chamfer the edges with the intention of a flush fit.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/7/1/9/1728719-26091-91-720.jpg)
Hmmm....could be better, so a little filler required. All good practice for when it matters 😉 The blobby side hatch has been removed, and that mould gap will now be filled.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/5/6/2/1731562-26091-69-720.jpg)
Front towing eyes scratched and added, lifting eyes added, and a rain diverter gizmo added around the machine gun. I'll tidy up the cut ends...
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/5/5/9/1731559-26091-43-720.jpg)
Scratched a new side hatch and it's cast surround, lifting eyes added, and periscopes enhanced (to be completed...).
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/5/6/0/1731560-26091-80-720.jpg)
The kit does not have a machine gun to mount on the turret, so I have borrowed this from another kit. I'm going to try to make a towing cable too. The casting around the side hatch will be filed back and made neater.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/5/6/1/1731561-26091-68-720.jpg)
Hatches still to be added, so they will go on, before priming.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/5/6/3/1731563-26091-47-pristine.jpg)
Periscopes enhanced with narrow PE strips. I'll meld them to the plastic behind.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/0/1/1731601-26091-60-720.jpg)
Some white highlights added to the grey primer.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/5/9/7/1731597-26091-25-720.jpg)
Definitely taking shape 🙂
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/5/9/8/1731598-26091-95-720.jpg)
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/5/9/9/1731599-26091-90-720.jpg)
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/0/0/1731600-26091-12-720.jpg)
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/9/6/7/1731967-26091-73-720.jpg)
Olive drab overall, details painted, and decals applied. Not yet sealed down or weathered.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/9/6/8/1731968-26091-41-720.jpg)
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/9/6/9/1731969-26091-88-720.jpg)
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/9/7/4/1731974-26091-10-720.jpg)
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/9/7/6/1731976-26091-72-720.jpg)
Rain gutter and lifting points added, but no guards for the lights.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/9/7/7/1731977-26091-30-720.jpg)
Periscopes and lifting points added.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/9/7/9/1731979-26091-53-720.jpg)
The start of the next phase... Wheel house 'box' only had a wheel and compass, so I'm adding controls and a radio / Tannoy.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/9/8/0/1731980-26091-22-720.jpg)
Engine controls are fiction, but give an impression of what two engines might need.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/9/8/1/1731981-26091-12-720.jpg)
Can you guess what these are?
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/9/8/2/1731982-26091-39-720.jpg)
Quite correct! I'm considering adding loops of rope to the life rings. Let's see how that develops!
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/0/0/8/1732008-26091-10-720.jpg)
Loose fit mock-up. Were jeeps squeezed in with Shermans?
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/0/0/9/1732009-26091-50-720.jpg)
It could look dramatic....
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/4/4/5/1735445-26091-31-720.jpg)
Assembly is underway. The two air vents were cast solid, so I drilled them out and thinned the edges.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/4/4/6/1735446-26091-31-720.jpg)
Fettling the control levers, so they look like they have knobs on their ends.
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/4/4/7/1735447-26091-71-720.jpg)
The anchor was totally plain, so it has been developed a little.
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/4/4/8/1735448-26091-25-720.jpg)
Last of the flash and seams removed.
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/4/4/9/1735449-26091-37-720.jpg)
First small parts added. primer followed. The air vents look much better 🙂
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/4/5/0/1735450-26091-64-720.jpg)
Some small details painted.
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/4/5/1/1735451-26091-95-720.jpg)
A North-pointing needle added to the compass 😉
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/4/5/2/1735452-26091-68-720.jpg)
Duffle coats and sea boot stockings 😉
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/4/5/3/1735453-26091-81-720.jpg)
The third crewman.
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/4/5/9/1735459-26091-28-720.jpg)
Which is the coxswain?
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/4/6/0/1735460-26091-33-720.jpg)
All aboard!
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/4/6/1/1735461-26091-67-720.jpg)
The steel wardrobe 😉
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/4/6/2/1735462-26091-53-720.jpg)
Very little room inside. I'm wondering if I should make one wall of clear plastic?
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/1/5/5/1737155-26091-74-720.jpg)
Door handle added, and door hung on hinges.
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/1/5/6/1737156-26091-83-720.jpg)
Control console installed.
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/1/5/7/1737157-26091-48-720.jpg)
A little white on the walls, another coat to follow, after I tidy up the window aperture.
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/1/5/8/1737158-26091-69-720.jpg)
Hmmm.... didn't see that one coming. The door clashes with the bollard. I'll modify the bollard so the door clears it, visually.
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/1/5/9/1737159-26091-60-720.jpg)
Skids fabricated, to protect the screws and rudders.
![Album image #52 Album image #52](/albums/img/1/6/0/1737160-26091-66-720.jpg)
I'll paint the screws brass, when I can procure some appropriate paint.
![Album image #53 Album image #53](/albums/img/1/6/1/1737161-26091-49-720.jpg)
Engine cooling water waste pipe added. 1mm steel tube, from a glue applicator! I see I need to smooth out around it. The winch also needs to sit tighter to the deck.
![Album image #54 Album image #54](/albums/img/1/6/2/1737162-26091-59-720.jpg)
A little wear on the ramp / bow.
![Album image #55 Album image #55](/albums/img/1/6/3/1737163-26091-16-720.jpg)
Coming together, slowly.

Many thanks, Robert. I'll try to do it justice. There are three crew figures to bring to life too. Lots of mould lines and flash to deal with...

The wheels look like figure 158 near the bottom of this page:

Thanks, Ben. I think you are right. I had no idea there were so many variations! It looks like I need to make up some track skids now too!
