And it starts again! 🙂 This time I want to build more or less oob.

This is the desired goal. One of only 10 Luftwaffe's F-4Es stationed at George Air Force Base, CA. There aren’t any decals for this bird out there. All of them, besides the stencils, will be DIY.

I drilled out the barrels of the Vulcan witha .4mm drill bit. It definitely looks better like this.

I had to cut off some pieces from the guys. But now they fit into the cockpit.

The german F-4Es had the TISEO device, but without the TISEO optics itself mounted inside. There was some piece of metal instead of the lens. I replicated that with 0.3mm plastic card.

The clear parts had a little treatment to remove the seamlines and were dipped in Pleadge/Klear.

First colour on. I wanted to use AK RC249 Medium Gray (which would be the right tone), but (like with my Su-22) the colour wasn’t right in my opinion. So I changed it (like with my Su-22) to RC251 Dark Ghost Gray. It looks way more realistic to me.

For tonal variations I mixed 2 drops of flat white into the RC244 and highlighted some spots and panels.

There are no decals for the George AFB Luftwaffe F-4E‘s, so I have to airbrush some details, where I normally would use decals. The tail tip is one of these details.

It’s done! After exactly two months I finished this absolutely gorgeous MENG-Phantom. It was fun all the time. No surprises or challenges, just fun!!!

Hi S B, in picture 9 you sculpted the antenna base; there is an antenna on the sprues, you can use that part and cut off the antenna itself. It's part J14.
