F-4N Phantom II VF-154
Just started away with cutting out the inflight refueling probe bay and fashioning a new cover for the extended probe.
Checking my measurements.
Too bad I can't zoom in with just my phone but this is going to be the inside of the door.
I hope there will be some plastic left when I'm done...

Three scales, three projects, two locations, one deadline. Let's see what happens.

Why did You use polistyrene to cover this panel? What was wrong with kit part?

Oh, there was nothing wrong! 🙂 When Navy Phantoms power up or power down the crew extends the IFR probe and I want to build my model in that situation. So I had to cut out the panel in order to open the bay. Because I destroyed that panel in the proces I had to fashion a new (internaly detailed) one. Next up: the probe itself, the bay and the inside of the door.

This is how I want to build the model. You can see the IFR probe extended.

Great idea! Maybe I'll do something like this on one of my Phantoms 🙂

Thank you! I was looking for something like that as the PP Aeroparts refueling probes seem to be sold out.
