The fit of the Revell kit is amazing. Almost no sanding needed and the canopy parts are quite clear.

Forgot to close the small drill holes under the wings before painting. Meh...

Neutral gray and olive drab scheme. Glad how it turned out, however you can´t see that much on these pics. Bad light and a bad smartphone camera.

Next are the yellow stripes on the wings. Decided to paint them, instead of using the decals in the kit.

There are some things, that i will do different the next time i build a revell p-47 in 1:72. For example the canopy is missing a piece. I think i could have corrected this with putty.

I have to take more care when sanding. Plus there is a part, i didnt close, because i thought this won´t stay open. Next time, i know better.

Masked the stripes and prepared the areas with white.

As you can see here, there is alot stuff on the parts, that you need to clean up. Maybe because the form is so old already. The older kits of this series don´t have this nearly as much.

On the tail you can see some spots, where the paint ran under the masking. corrected that with a brush and some olive drab.

The cowling is very thick and hard to put on, when you assembled the motor.

Assembled the parts and applied a first coat of gloss varnish

I will let the varnish dry overnight and start to apply the decals tomorrow. So excited everytime this step is ahead of me!

Applied decals and now waiting how the decal fix makes them turn out. Noticed i build a P-47D-30-RA instead of the 28-RE version this particular plane actually was. Shame, but i really love what a colorful bird this turned out to be.

Really happy how the wash turned out, especially on the wings. In retrospect, i should have rescribed the panel lines on the front cowling. Now it appears, that they aren´t as deep as the other ones on the kit. Now the prop is left...

It is good to see there are more P-47 enthusiasts out there! 🙂 I admire your patientce and skills building 1:72nd scale. I wouldn't be able to do that. Everything Looks great so far! I especially like the paint scheme, I am a fan of Olive drab! Looking Forward to the next update!

Very nice progress, I glued and masked the canopy today, but mine was complete. The antenna is wating aside of course 😉 I'll glue it in the very end. Thanks for your hints, they are v.helpful
