Curtiss XF15C-1 (Pro Resin)
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/4/5/2/341452-10105-96-720.jpg)
The Pro Resin (Olimp) kit of the Curtiss XF15C-1. No nickname of "Stingaree" or "Stringaree" was ever used, based on conversation with ex-Curtiss Wright employee.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/4/5/3/341453-10105-10-720.jpg)
The XF15C-1 was the last aircraft built by Curtiss for the US Navy. It was not ordered into production.

The stuff in the box...
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/4/5/5/341455-10105-94-720.jpg)
And more stuff in the box. I love the smell of resin in the morning.

All cleaned up and ready for some paint and superglue. Beautifully cast kit.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/4/5/7/341457-10105-56-720.jpg)
Cockpit ready to go. Spare photoetch and decals provided the instruments and consoles.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/4/5/8/341458-10105-18-720.jpg)
I could find no photos of the cockpit on the actual plane, so I'll just go with what Pro Resin have provided.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/5/9/341459-10105-73-720.jpg)
Wow, that went together like a charm.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/6/0/341460-10105-19-720.jpg)
I have to add a chin scoop that Pro Resin left out.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/6/1/341461-10105-87-720.jpg)
Prototype #2 in flight. The XF15C had a P&W 2800 up front and a Goblin jet in the back.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/6/5/341465-10105-12-720.jpg)
The sole remaining XF15C of the three that were built.

In need of some repair - plus the museum that housed her has closed down. I heard she was headed south to another museum.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/9/0/1/412901-10105-18-720.jpg)
A bit of Testors Dark Sea Blue and she's starting to get that US Navy 1950s look.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/9/0/2/412902-10105-49-720.jpg)
Some shiny stuff to get her ready for stickers - you can almost see the chin scoop I made.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/9/0/3/412903-10105-84-720.jpg)
Kit decals were the worst I've ever seen. All markings came from the spares box instead.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/9/0/0/412900-10105-42-720.jpg)
I had to scratch build the deployment mechanism for the inner main gear doors.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/9/0/4/412904-10105-77-720.jpg)
Oops, I forgot the yellow tips on the props, along with the Curtiss Electric logos. I'm getting old.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/5/2/5/413525-10105-21-720.jpg)
Finished! What a beast.

You can hardly tell the little old Goblin jet is tucked up in the back of this rascal.

Somehow I ended up in two Group Builds at the same time, so here is the other project to go along with my F-111B. I think this one will be less work! The Curtiss XF15C-1 was one of several mixed-propulsion aircraft (prop & jet) that the US Navy had in development during the late stages of WWII. It was the last US Navy aircraft to bear the Curtiss name. Unfortunately, it was not ordered into production as the US Navy preferred the Ryan FR Fireball. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Pro Resin (Olimp) kit - it is beautiful. I can smell the Dark Sea Blue already!

I'm calling this one done - several photos of the completed model have been added. Hope you like this obscure beast from the late 40s. 🙂
@Bernhard - what's next? Well, I still have to finish my F-104 Joe Walker tribute for a Britmodeller Group Build. And then I think I'm finally going to start the TSR.2. I have a ton of aftermarket for that one, so it should be quite a project! I'll have to look into the XF14C - I think that may be more obscure than the XF15C, if that's possible. Didn't they only build one of those?

your XF-15C turned out really nice!
According to Bowers book of Curtiss Aircraft two prototypes of the XF14C were ordered (XF14C-1 and XF14C-2) but only the XF14C-2 with serial 03183 was completed in September 1943.
