Horten ZM 1:48
Also not that crisp. Looks also like a bad copy of the 32nd scale part
looks not bad
Test fitting with upper half of the frame is recommended
Assembly of the frame. A lot of test fitting is reccommended
Additional PE Parts from Zoukei M
steering gear. painted with alclad
Assembled Jumo. Painted with Alclad. Not easy to remove the seams.
More parts for the Jumo

some more details.
My workbench ...little chaotic because of the scratchbuild
build up some of the inner wooden framework
unfortunately the landing gear is of poor quality. The white metal casting has a streaky surface. Not usable

scratchbuild woodparts ready for painting
woodstructres wing
wood painting tail
Cockpit ready!
right wing, uncolored, because in the end its fully covered. Had to install some of the internal part to achieve that both wings have a similar wight. Didn't know if this makes sense
Left wing, ready. Not fully happy with the waethering

OMG.... This happens while spraying with Aqaua Gloss.....
Try to correct it and usinf Tamiya clear X22, no improvement. What goes wrong??

Inspired by Andrea and his 1:72nd Zoukei Mura Horten. I'm starting my 1:48th Scale Horten. Beginning with some close up of the 48th scale parts. They're much better than the 72nd scale parts. But some of them also looks like bad copys of the better 32nd scale parts.

Hi Norbert, thanks for the pics. I have to say that, obviously, the 48th parts look more detailed and with less flashes, and while both are downscaled from the bigger scale, the 72nd is more simplified and with some parts omitted, even if the locating points can still be found! Looking forward for your progress!

After one year of absence, I've found back to my hobby. Let's forget 2020, and focus on 21.
Have fun

@All:Thanks.
@Andrea: No that's the reason why I want to leave away the hull on the left side to show the inner details.

Ok, I'd made good progress on the horten, due to home office.......
The additional parts with white metal landing gear from Zoukei has a really poor quality. So I decided to take the front wheel from white metal and the other parts usinfg the plastic parts from the kit...annoying an time consuming.
Also started with some detailing of the inner wood structures.
As always some more descripting under the pictures

Cockpit completed. I've used the zoukei mura precolored PE parts. Again, I'm not happy with the quality. the colored coting of the parts get off immediatly, if you try to bend them.

Some more pictures. Slowly but surely... I'm not that experienced with aircraft models.
Not sure about the last coat of varnish. Flat or semi gloss? What do you think?

I guess flat would make sense on a military aircraft, but on this untypical project a semi gloss would look great!

OK. great problem and frustration... I did apply a clear coat for my standard oil wash, and this happens. Starting with Alclad 2 Aqua gloss, in the beginning everything looks oK until the surface start to look like on the picture. I tried different guns and air pressure, but no improvement. After letting it dry for at least 6-7 hours a second try to rescue my coating with Tamiya clear X22, but it even gets worse...... I have no idea what went wrong. Did this really often 8100 times). Any idea????

Some more deatial: 1st coat. Aqua gloss on Mr Aqueous hobby color RLM 81 and 82. Gun: Badger 150; 0,5 mm needle. 1,5 bar pressure.
Switch to Badger renegade Krome with 0,21mm needle, similar pressure. Second approach with Tamiya and Badger Krome. Before that i did a test spray on a plastic shett with Tamiya black base. No Problems!! What did I wrong?? Some problems with the MR Hobby color.

I am really sorry for you! it looks like the paint was too thick, or something oily in the compressed air... Have you checked the dilution ratio and the air filter and oil trap?

Hi Andrea, yes I checked all this. Did a lot of spray testing on a sheet of plastic before I try it on the horten. Airbrush totally clean...... Could it be that Aqua gloss and Tamiya paint are to old? Honestly I have them for years

Hi Norbert, yes that could be a cause. Or maybe the paint was drying quickly and didn't have the time to flatten properly. Are they completely hardened? I think you should give a couple of coats again, than carefully sand and polish...
I am not using Tamiya clear acrylic anymore because most of the time it stayed sticky or gummy forever. I started using the new Future a couple of years ago, works great every time and can be sanded.
HTH
Good luck!

That is not anything to worry about. I have experienced this when I was painting while it was too humid outside. Just hit it with some 2000 grit sandpaper.

Hi mates, no Compressor is big enough with a 20 liter tank. Will try to sand it with 2000 grid.
Let you know about the results. Thanks.

I had a similar problem with Tamiya TS-13 Clear spray can. I believe it was either too cold weather, applied to heavily, or a combination of both

Solved... Using 2000 to 4000 sand paer, the sprayed gunze H102 semi gloss. Heavy diluted with Tamiya X20...about 60% thinner.
