Are you wearing sunglasses while working this kit? That yellow hurts my eyes! But your doing a great job getting the best out of this kit! 👍

wow, rescribbing the complete kit must be a great amount of fun....great job there. Aires kit looks amazing. if fitting it in the kit it is made for requires lots of sanding, doing it in another kit.... i do not even want to think about it. but you are getting an amazing result.
i did the '78 model back in the 80's, your certainly looks great. i actually found it in model even and purchased it again..... but never dared to started it again. i may eventually get the Hasegawa or Eduard to avoid all the scribing.....

Thanks for the kind comments, guys.
Thanks Patrick Hagelstein! Yes the yellow plastic is a real eye popper. The first thing I had to do with the kit, was to lay down a light coat of flat black. That made it easy to see the raised panel lines & detail after I lightly sanded them. Oddly enough, I plan on doing it in the box art scheme (the Büchel canary). Not so intense as the plastic, however.
Thanks Spanjaard! The eduard is difficult to find, especially at a reasonable price. I did pick up the Kinetic one and it is beautiful. I think better than Hasegawa's. I hear AMK plan on doing one also.

thanks for the info Kenneth, i may add the Kinetic to my stash.... re-scribing has never been my favorite modelling activity 🙂

what exactly is that kind of metallic star that you are using to thin the inside of the plastic? it looks like something i could certainly use 🙂

It's called a Shimomura Alec Precision Chamfering Tool. Basically it is a scraping tool for seam lines. They made a few varieties. I have one for concave and convex surfaces. I bought mine on Amazon. There is also another brand I like to use more often, called Ustar.

Album info
This is a kit I've had in my stash since the late '80s. I decided to scribe recessed panel lines & rivets, and stuff the Aires cockpit set into it (the one designed for the Hasegawa kit).
