I have 3d printed some of the torso upgrade parts, and recasted them of resin. Now the interesting part (installing them).

Album image #14
I've started installation of the resin upgrade parts into the Wave's kit torso. So the mech got two SRM's 6, two M-lasers, anti missile system on top instead of lights and industrial cooling system on it's back. I forgot to mention the surveillance system at the torso bottom.

Album image #15
Finally I was able to continue painting of my mech. I've done the integration of 3d printed upgrade parts, and finished cockpit interior and upgraded mech with industrial heatsink protected by some scratch built primitive armor box.

Here is the cockpit.

Album image #17
And here is the back of the mech.

Album image #18
Finished painting my mechwarrior in 1/72. I got to take my hat off to those who paint 28mm miniatures. You guys are amazing masters of paint.

Album image #19
Mechwarrior took it's place in the cockpit for the first time 🙂

Album image #20
Got my photoetch. Designed by me. Big stuff, half of A4 size.

Album image #21
Unfortunately the mid lasers internal optical system is very poorly visible. So I could just install outer lenses and they would do the job.

Album image #22
The PE allowed me to finish legs at last. Also I installed custom boots, though I had no intentions to do so. But this way feet looks better if you ask me.

Last look into the cockpit.

Album image #25
The Pilot in neurohelmet looks pretty comfy inside.

Album image #26
I totaly do not like the view of top fencing and cockpit rollbar. Unfortunately I will have to remove them and repaint front of mech's torso.

I totaly do not like the view of top fencing and cockpit rolcage. Unfortunately I will have to remove them and repaint front of mech's torso.

Album image #28
Finaly I've finished anti missile system.

Album image #29
Basically It's scaled down Phalanx CIWS

Album image #30
The gattling gun barrels are made of 0.8mm tubes and photoetched parts.

Thank you mates! WhiteGlint, That's an interesting Catapult you have. I have it in mind for my future builds, but more classic design, that reminds me the blockade runner.

Thanks, Dmitri. 🙂
While the classic designs do have their charme I really love the new design they went for with Battletech/Mechwarrior.
I can not describe it, but for me they check all the boxes.

Looking forward to your progress. 👍

WhiteGlint, I agree they did a great job, hiring those artists to redesign the mechs. I do love new designs, especialy the Atlas, Battlemaster and King Krab, but some of them in classic appearance are realy forever in my heart. They are Maradeur, Longbow, Awesome and Catapult(which I like in both designs).

Oh yes, new Atlas and King Crab are beasts.
My personal favourites are the Bushwacker, Marauder and Catapult. While there are good 3D files for the latter two I am still hoping for a good Bushwacker some day.

Though, I'd prefer normal model kits. 😄 Plastic is easier to work with than resin.

Camo reminds me a bit of a German Tank, like a Panzer IV with "summer camouflage".
The different colours on the joints add a lot to visual interest.

Many thanks my friends, glad you like the build. WhiteGlint, the camo indeed looks like the germans had, but I was inspired by south african mercenaries of 70's , they had similar camo and colors. I had long time idea about battletech mercenary company with african flavour.

The new parts look great. 👍
But why did you recast them when you already had them printed?
6 April 2022, 06:15
Dmitri Kouterguine
The 3d resin is a fragile, I prefer to work with polyurethane resin. So it's just a matter of personal preferences.

It sure does break easily, that is true.
Alright, thank you for explaining, I was curious. 👍

Very nice! I have this kit also as well as the Warhammer (Tomahawk). Who did you contract out to do your PE and 3D prints? I'd like to get some.
25 December 2022, 00:46
Dmitri Kouterguine
Tim, Chip, thank you mates! I played Mechcommander in late 90's early 2000's for 10 years from time to time, so it was a great game. Chip, 3d prints are done by myself as well as PE design, and PE sheet made by one Russian company producing photo-etch, sorry I will not name them.

That cockpit looks great, Dmitri. Awesome to see this mech coming together.
