Thanks Simon. I have your 1/72 models to look up go! You do such an amazing job. A question, what figures in 1/72 scale would you reccomend for various subjects, Russian, American, German, ww2, post ww2?

Thank you Jennifer. Yes, I have. Last year I completed 34 for the entire year, the year before 32. This year I planned to slow down, we will see...

First of all, thank you for your praise, I'm really happy to hear (read) that!
So, most of the commercially available figures in injection molding that I know of are usually an evil that you have to accept if you have no other choice.
You probably know these sets with 40+ content of figures from Italeri, Revell, Mars, Orion, Caesar and so on.
They are usually poorly detailed, often have a lot of flash to remove, the size often doesn't really fit and they are usually made of soft plastic🤮 - but usually cheaper.
However, when it comes to injection-molded figures, there is one good exception: Zvezda.
They have WWII figurines for Russian, British, US and German in their range and are available in small sets of 4-5 figures each and are usually composed of about 3 parts.
They are made of normal plastic and the proportions and details are quite convincing.
At the moment, however, it is often difficult to get them.
There are high quality figures from Scale75 scale75.com/
White Stork Miniatures whitestorkminiatures.com/
or GeBo Figuren from Germany gebo-figuren.de/
Which produce primarily for WWII and in resin And they are all among my favorites.
Maybe you have already seen the 3d printed figures from FC Modeltrend or Ammo?
Both are okay, but not my favorites, the quality always varies a bit from good to acceptable.
A good manufacturer (but from Germany) is Germania figures.
Manufactured by 3d printing and with a large assortment and the quality is also convincing germania-figuren.eu/
MIG Productions also has a few small figure sets (WWII, modern) in their assortment that are excellent, but I don't know how well available they are.
I think the figures from CMK are also well available, but even with them the quality varies in design.
Black Dog has released new figures (WWII) and they look excellent.
So that would be about the selection of manufacturers that are well known to me.
I don't know to what extent these are available for you, because they are all European manufacturers, but the world has already become so small today, there are certainly possibilities... 😉
But I hope that I could still help you a little further.

Simon, thank you for a lengthy and detailed response. I've been buying figures in 1/48 and 1/72 scale but was unaware what is "good" in 1/72 scale. I usually get models vis ebay so I was able to find that CMK has some nice ones in this scale. I also saw that they will be at the IPMS USA Nationals in couple months, so I may replenish my stash of those in person 😄 i am also going to look at Black Dog as i have some of their other kits, love the quality. thanks again!

Album info
2K12 Kub / SA-6 Gainful ground-to-air defense system by Trumpeter in 1/72 scale. This model represents Yugoslav Army Kub from 1999. Model came together without a hitch, missiles being the only "weakness". Airbrushed with Vallejo acylics and weathered with AK wash and pigments. Registration numbers came from a Yugoslav vehicle decal set. Model 13 for 2023!
