USS Harpers Ferry LSD-49 - WIPNy: 11 November, 20:04 1:350
The resin hull had a substantial warp to it. So I build a device to pull the hull straight while heating it to around 80...

The hull is cast from resin and was warped by 10mm at each end. The heat makes the resin a bit soft, so it will keep the new shape.

@Ben: Well, I guess that is the price you have to pay, if you want to tackle these kind of kits. I think it was in there for maybe 1,5h. Just long enough to make sure the whole resin gets to temperature. And then you hafe to slowly let it cool down.
@Michael: Don't tell my wife 😜

Well, now that I think about it, it was more 80°C, but yes, for about 1,5h and then I left it in there till it cooled down to room temperature. The picture shows the cold oven. The red needle belongs to the red scale and the black needle to the black scale. So the temperature in the pic is not 90°C but below 30°C! This picture is some weeks old and I also was briefly mislead... I would not try this method with injection moldet parts! Resin does not melt in the same way as styrene does. It just gets a bit softer at these temperatures.
