Hi Kesa,
a Leo 1 at the Berlin Wall is a nice idea and I am curious about the connection your family has to this idea.
I don't wanna spoil the project and I may stand corrected, but to the best if my knowledge there were never any German tanks in Berlin between the end of the second world war and the german reunification. The tanks were American, russian, british and french.

The project and my family are completely unconnected just wanted to mention it.
I am aware that there werent any german tanks in berlin but i just found this leo for a cheap price and decided why not, i also dont think there were JGSDF iraq assistance teams in berlin at the time but the fun thing about this hobby is that i can do whatever i want so again decided it would add a nice touch to the dio

@Martin. The Rex mixer is quite large, however the KW Transit Mixer, is a tad smaller, and easily available on the current market. Get yourself one 😉

I picked up the Mack DM800 Rex Mixer, in good condition. It was a highlight for me. The 800 is a tricky kit, but I had to have the mixer to complete the collection. I plan to do the tri-axle option, when I get around to it. But I gotta admit, the Paystar makes an awesome kit.

They are beasts. Just wonder why the rear fenders on the DM800 and Paystar mixers are so long - extending so much in front and arear of the tandem.

Thank you Martin Oostrom, Goldman, Neuling, Bozzer. I like construction equipment and have a 1:50 diecast collection. I built the cement mixer because I liked the Ertl/AMT models of the "International" line. I have built the 1972 Scout, the 2011 ProStar, the PayHauler 350 and both the PayStar Cememnt Mixer and Dump Truck.

The 360 backhoe.
The D8 dozer.
And of course, some lowloader trailers, to carry them!
(Don't forget to get some awesome semi's, to pull them?)

Nice choice of kit, like the way your clock's/ instruments have turned out.
Was each clock individual??
Good stuff, my next kit is a Tamiya, was good quality.
Thanks for uploading 👍👍

Thanks Mr D. You can't go wrong with a Tamiya, at least in terms of fit. Sometimes their details get simplified and supposedly a few kits have accuracy issues, but for assembly they are great. Had to do this one after the A-20G since it was so painfully fussy to fit together. This is a nice change!
I thought about punching out each instrument individually but it's so small it would have driven me mad. Fortunately, the decal is sized perfectly to the panel so if you align it carefully, it turns out fine.
This kit doesn't specifically say it, but you can do both open and closed engine panel. Since the engine fits with pins and poly caps, you can change them out, which I intend to do. It's a nice touch and the kit is fairly cheap. Pick one up if you haven't already.

I agree, after a frustrating build. You can go to a Tamiya kit and get back to what the hobby is about. . . Enjoyment, satisfaction, reasonable accuracy and a decent finish. Good interior John, looks like the 162 is on track as I would expect from your good self. 🤘🥸🤟🥸👍

Question for OP:
What brand might be selling vacuum formed clear parts? Seems like you found some as seen in photo #11. I've seen some for airplane/jet canopies, but none for cars, so I wouldn't know where to look.

Hey Treehugger, the parts in the picture are part of the kit. But funny that you mention this topic because I actually dealt with this question myself recently. I finished two 964s earlier this year (Revell and Fujimi) and the clear parts in both kits were of very poor quality. Searched for aftermarket replacement and found nothing. So I decided to try myself at vacuforming and made the clear parts myself which turned out to be pretty decent (after countless tries and errors) I have not posted pictures of the builds yet but intend to, keep an eye open. You are right, there is definitely a lack of aftermarket windshields for cars...

They show us the difference between a normal modeller and a master modeller: mishaps happen to both, but with you there's nothing to see afterwards!

If you only knew how many car models I had to repaint! I honestly think most of them, partly or in whole. It is a rarity a paintjob succeeds at the first try. I don`t even call them "mishaps". Just "happy little accidents" like Bob Ross 😄

Exactly, the lullaby channel😄 no, the guy was really great.
But on the topic of repaintings again, I actually counted the car models which are right now in my home. There are a total 16 on display and I had to redo the paintjob on 9 of them! Partly or in whole. So that is actually not the exception but the rule 👍

Anyway, your car paint jobs here on SM are the reference for me, no kidding!
Thank you also very much for the detailed description about used paints, 2K stuff and thinners etc in your build logs 👍
Fortunately, I don't normally need such high-gloss finishes, but I have helped other modellers (no SM members - yet) several times by pointing them to your build reports.
Thank you very much, your documentation effort is highly appreciated!

Hey Villiers/Christoph - hope you enjoy the build and thanks for watching the progress. Thinking about a custom paint job on the second spitfire with reference to the album power slave of which Aces High is from. Have some home print decal sheets that I have been meaning to use for years so might try testing them out. Revell have been kind enough to send a second Eddie Sprue so will have him seated in both planes when completed.

@Mr D, the Devastator was a pre-War torpedo bomber that was one of the most advanced aircraft of its time. Unfortunately. it was already obsolete at the start of the war. It was slow and underpowered, and early-War tactics left its crews extremely vulnerable.

Thanks, Mr D. I'm trying not to let the asymmetry bother me on the black-primed model. I wish I'd made a template or measured them instead of trying to follow the old panel lines. Still, I'm glad I made the effort.
Pure improvisation, Casey! It seems to be holding up so far. I want to do open or partially-opened canopies, so it didn't make sense to glue them in place, which is what I usually would have done.
