Bergepanther Ausf. D, Dragon kit Panther Ausf. D, Fat Frog Models tracks and some scratchbuild details to present an early Bergepanther.
An easy self made conversion for an interesting recovery vehicle. I will add drawbars, a rack with a timber and the wooden hatch above the turret opening.

Taking up one of those firstt row seats on this one! These Fat Frog tracks are really neat, currently using a set on a King Tiger... Looking forward to more of the scratchbuilt addons 👍

You're welcome Tom B. 🙂
Indeed the Fat Frog tracks are really nice, but a lil bit tricky to remove all the printing supports mainly on the inner side of the tracks.

WIP on my Bergepanther conversion. Tow bars and wooden beam added.
So far I have no references for early Bergepanther using the wooden beam, but let's assume it is a field modification.

Isn´t the rubber on the wheels a bit too clean? But nevertheless a beauty of couse 🙂
Did you use a template for the rubber? It looks so evenly painted. Mine is most times a mess 🙁

Thx subotai for your kind comment and your thoughts 🙂👍
I'd like to present mostly dry mud what stuck to the tracks and wheels, so I kept the rubber cleaner than the rest. So far following some reference photos I used to follow.
About the paintwork, I did not used a template but painted the rubber free hand along the edges of the wheels.

Really nice build and weathering Jon. Especially the "Ghost" marks for the drop tanks. I'm guessing this is a post war Mossie..?

May I allow myself a little critique? I think the streaks/rainmarks should follow gravity's path instead of appearing parallel to the panel lines, like seen in picture 29. Just an idea for future projects. Otherwise like already said outstanding build!

Ypu know most builds are of the gato 212 i wanted to pay homage to those that gave ultimate sacrifice i never heard of the albacore before found it researching she hit a mine and lost with all hands. But on that same patrol she sunk a carrier. So anyway i had the numbers they are out of scale and in actuality would not be on the bow during patrol but they tie the kit to the nameplate. For me when the styrene scales tip they tip on the side of artistic licsense ( lol).
Anyway thats how that came to be. I wanted something different.

Hi nikfrost.

But as I have deviated on the colour scheme, I may make one up. Hoping to find some rub on letters at the hobby shop.
Any name suggestions? (Question open to all of course 🙂 )
Have a good day.

The weathering is spectacular and the chipping! Heck yeah the tarp thats cool makes me want to tear mine apart and start over! And weather it too!
After thought ( hence the handle) i wish i would have scratch built a trawl door and chained to the foreward galliws frame! Next time i am.

Hi Mr D. Haha they are painted on. I tried to use as less decals as possible except somethings like the Japanese "No Step" which is too complicated for me XD. The Antenna is 0.05 mm copper wire.

Thank you Mr D! I truly agree with you that the the effect is suitable for Japanese aircrafts. I was thinking of giving the observers a feeling of the thin skin is really attached on spars and ribs.
