Spangdahlem F-4D Phantom, 1970s
The decals got a thin coat of Tamiya X-22.
Meanwhile all decals are on. Progresd is slow but I hope to finish the F-4D soon… only a very steps to go…
Started with the decals after having applied a Tamiya X-22 gloss coat. I use the decals from an old Revell F-4C/D kit (see project inventory).
Fitting the tires.
The air intakes required some CA glue and sanding to make them looking right.
Tailfin fit. The gap between joint and fuselage required some putty. I used Surfacer for filling.
Applying a final coat of Vallejo Satin Varnish…

I did some weathering of the Phantom with oils. Those Phantoms were dirty planes..

Hi Walaroo, you have the Academy kit? I really like this kit. I had no major issues during construction. A little bit of putty/CA was required to make the intakes "fit in". To me the fit is as good as of the 1/48 Hasegawa kits. I added some of the "in progress pics" to the gallery so that you can see the areas which needed more attention.
