Christian LehmannDave and Urban, you´re right. The engineers that designed the mold thought a lot about how to break down the model. As written: It fits perfect. Nearly no putty and very less sanding are necessary.
Dave: How tall is the 1/72 kit?

The paint job to be done at this model is like hell.
Mask -paint-clear coate, mask-paint- clear coate, mask-paint- clea..... 🙂
But it is an oportunity to be creative and to test new paint technics.
@ Wilfried: I only know this kit, but from qualitys point of view it is worth the money I payed for it.
@ Philip: Thanks so far. Your heli is also great. Hair spray technic is a great invention.

Christian LehmannTwo new picsadded. Basic painting of the fuselage is nearly completed. Only two yellow decals ( thin stripes around the cockpit) are missing. Unfortunately the decals have a more orange color compared to the yellow painted areas. Have to think for a solution. Maybe I will mask it or paint with the correct color ( Revell enamel color) over the cut out decals before I apply them. Did somebody try something like that in the past?

Bill GilmanHi Lemmy, yes I have painted decals before applying them. The problem I had was the edges split in a few places, since all of the clear carrier film was cut away. Maybe if you paint and then coat with Decalfix or something like that will stop the edges from tearing.

Christian LehmannI intend to coat with a clear coate ( Tamiya acrylic)wuld this harden the decal and make it unflexible?

Christian LehmannI found another solution. I used the kit decals , applied them and painted over them with a fine brush 🙂

Christian LehmannNew pics of the finished modell added. Two weeks of power modelling came to an end. The kit contains not so much parts which fit excelent. Most work had been invested for the paint job. Enjoy the pics.

Here are the first pics of this project. They display the cockpit , something like a stabilizer ( both ready to assemble they on the fuselage)and the underside ( not complete and not wheatered) of Slave I.
It is the first time that I build a kit from Fine Mold. I am very surprised about the quality. It is excelent. Only a minimum of sanding is necessary and the panel lines of the parts always meet. At minimum Tamiya quality maybe better. This makes hungry for more. Maybe Slave I in 1/72 scale.
