Thanks gary for your idea to use buff. I can see a difference but it's barely noticeable in the photos.
Maybe I should use more buff but I'll wait and see what the whole scene looks like with resin water and water lilies.

Wow! This is going to be a stunner! I agree, the tree roots are well observed, so very convincing. May I suggest a few dead grass stems amongst the fresh leaves? Perhaps some old tree leaves too? Can't wait to see the lily pads...
