The kit provides wonderful PE sheets for both kits. One sheet in dark steel color, one in brighter metal with color printing.

After soldering the seat I created upholstery using Miliput.

There are enough parts in the kit fro the cockpit details, no scratch work needed.

Both fuselage halves and the cockpit floor are prepared.
The fuselage is very different to the D.IIIa as the Spandau MGs are mounted internally. This was more aerodynamic but with a big disadvantage: in case of load jam the pilot can not fix it in flight.

The kit provides PE belts, but I used real fabric ones from Eduard/HGW.
A little problem with the manual: I moved the compass in front of the seat.

In the front position where the compass sits according the kit manual I put a fuel gauge (PE from spare).

The floor is mounted, after that the shoulder belts was added. The kit engine was also slightly modified and painted and is now in place.

To get a better position of the internal parts like seat I moved the floor a bit backward.
And yes, some control wires are added too. The holes for the wires was provided in the back plate.
Please not the very small instrument panel, the D.IIIa uses a wider one.

After the pictures I noticed that I have forgotten the trigger wires for the guns which are added here. The trigger buttons on the stick are PE.

After a health problem, I stopped modelling for a short time. I didn't want to continue the projects I had started because I wasn't in the mood for scratch modelling. I wanted to make a quick project - almost oob. Of course with a wooden propeller, because building one is just fun.
Working on two Pfalz D.IIIa (one as a triplane conversion) a long time ago was great fun and there was still a special kit waiting in my stash: a Limited Edition Dual Combo Pfalz D.III. No, I haven't forgotten the "a", this really is the forerunner of the D.IIIa. Eduard has re-released the D.IIIa kit often, but this Edition is from 2005 and was never released again. I hear some voices: Limited Editions are for collecting, not building. Never mind, I'm building the kit now!

I'm building the machine from the cover picture - and because there's a heart on it, I'm dedicating the build to my wife, who always supports me!
