Wheel wells finished. A little bit disappointed with this ugly ejector pin marks, I didn't see them at first but hoping to be masked out by the landing gear once in place

Removed and drilled some of the lights that came raised above the wing surface or built in to try and paint them later on. Hoping to achieve better looking lights with this small modification

I'm going to weather this model by applying a three layer effect. First primed with black followed by a metal color. Then I'll continue with the same interior green I've been using in all the build to act as the real life primer. Finally I'll add another layer of black primer to unify everything and apply some shadows before applying the final blue color.

For the chipping effect I've added a layer of hairspray between both paints I want to chip. One after the metal and another one after the green primer

Started with some heavy chipping on the wings and fuselage of the Corsair. Looking good so far even though a small amount of blending is going to be needed to better see some results. The green primer I used it's barely visible if visible at all. My main guess Is that used to little of it and it's being completely removed with the chipping

The underside of the plane was chipped too, although way lees because I wanted to achieve chipping as a result of a worked on plane by maintenance crew and pilot.

I only included one of the PE parts available for the drop tanks. In the end, this part is secondary, and the details are so small they were going to be of little use. Loving the end result with the chipping and added dirt.

Guns and exhaust smoke effects made with pastels. There's a lot of technics to achieve this result, but for me, this is the most realistic and easiest to work with. I use some black for the base, and then is add some grey/tan color to achieve that smokey look. Better to use a lot because when applying varnish it will difuminate a bit

Almost done. Apart from the rigging and the missiles. Ive loved this built. It was so much fun. I also like the result a lot. This heavy weather finish i think turned out fantastic.

Pitot and nav lights done. The light were done with a first layer of aluminum for the reflective part, a transparent color, and a tips leyer of UV resin to simulate the lens.

Starting stronger since the A350 catastrophe. Cockpit sub assembled with the Eduard Detail set, painted and weathered. Couldnt take more pictures of the progress due to the details being so small 🥴🥴

Hey MrD thanks! Well Im sorry I can't help you with that because I used the photo etched and plastic instrumentation provided by the kit from Eduard. Sure someone with more experience with Tamiya decals can help you with that in here.

I use cyanoacrylate for the PE parts, just a little amount sticks okay, although at this scale there's some parts that are way to hard to make them stick and my not so skilled application of the glue leaves a lot of residue on the model. I try to clean up the best I can but it's quite challenging sometimes

If you want to build a good looking cockpit with the extra detail I recommend you the PE for sure. But if your main goal is the exterior and not to focus so much on the interior the PE kit doesn't include a lot of things for the exterior, and the tamiya kit I think gives a really nice looking base cockpit

With half the plane chipped, I'm leaving for the week. There's still a lot of work to do regarding chipping and weathering to blend the paints. I'm having so much fun, and applying new technics for me that I'm sure I'll use in future models.

Chipping and decals done. I'm sure this chipping is not going to be of the liking of many, but I wanted to try different techniques and achieve a heavy worked on plane who could not get a paint job in a lot of time. I really like the result I achieved, even though it may seem extreme, I think it adds a lot of personality to the model, and also adds some history to it. Let me know your opinions on this and what would you have done differently with this chipping process

It fine, I've seen much heavier worked model than this..?
In reality they looked beat up from war n work... Especially the Corsair.
Best to build a model to how you like it.
I put all my models on a stand with wheels down , some people will cringe at that.🤣 But l like it personally, as l see more of the work I've done.
I'm yet to start wearing.... As quiet new to the game and learnt.
