F-100D Super Sabre
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/9/5/1/57951-12589-38-720.jpg)
This is going to need a lot of work.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/0/9/7/58097-12589-73-720.jpg)
Now the intake is done it's starting to look more like a Hun.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/0/9/8/58098-12589-96-720.jpg)
When I started the exhaust nozzle was square and the hole was oval.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/0/9/9/58099-12589-67-720.jpg)
Wings cleaned up and the raised detail removed. I've scribed the major control surfaces.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/3/2/2/58322-12589-79-720.jpg)
I've scribed the fuselage, reprofiled the nose with card and started correcting the wing chord and tail fin.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/3/7/9/58379-12589-97-720.jpg)
Now that the wing chord has been corrected it's dimensions are very accurate.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/2/0/3/59203-12589-74-720.jpg)
Airbrake done, I've also made the tail skid.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/2/5/59425-12589-22-pristine.jpg)
Nose wheel assembly finished, I used o-rings for tyres.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/5/1/62451-12589-24-720.jpg)
All the detail parts finished.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/5/2/62452-12589-60-720.jpg)
I bought a pre-painted F-Toys model for the drop tanks, pilot tube and refueling probe.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/5/3/62453-12589-76-720.jpg)
Primed for painting, the whole cockpit area had to be reshaped and the canopy cut down and filled.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/4/5/4/62454-12589-48-720.jpg)
Added the inner exhaust and fitted an intake trunk to the nose.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/4/5/5/62455-12589-62-720.jpg)
I noticed the F-Toys model's wing chord was a little short for a "D", it's the length of an early F-100 so I've converted it to an "A".
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/4/5/6/62456-12589-74-720.jpg)
I repainted and detailed the cockpit of the F-100A.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/4/5/7/62457-12589-74-720.jpg)
As the F-100A's wing chord was already correct, all I had to do was reshape the wings and remove the flap panel lines.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/4/5/8/62458-12589-32-720.jpg)
Side by side you can see how much shorter the early F-100A tail was.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/7/8/4/62784-12589-45-720.jpg)
(F-100A) After priming I painted random panels in white, light grey, light blue, sand or black, the effect it has had on the silver is evident in this photo. I really pleased how it came out.

(F-100D) Engine and exhaust area sprayed silver ready for masking.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/5/1/7/63517-12589-16-720.jpg)
Dry brushed the heat discolouration on the engine bay of the F-100A.

Decals applied but still a lot of work to do.

This has been on hold while, I've been trying to figure out how to do the Danish markings. I've ended cutting them out of spare sheets as I found sets of roundles online but without the fin markings.
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/2/6/2/74262-12589-24-pristine.jpg)
Cheap tool with six sizes of cutter. I used a mini-drill to sharpen them and now they are razor sharp, perfect discs every time!
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/6/6/8/74668-12589-37-720.jpg)
I'm happy with the decals 🙂 I've done quite a lot of weathering with oils and pastels.

Big push today and I've finished!

The "A-502" is fictitious but it's all I had in the spare decal stack.

All the detail parts I made came together quite well.

Are you going to finish it in the gloss green or NMF? I am planning on doing an Esci 1/72 F-100, and am going to attempt to foil it.....

I'm going with a third option, well it's the second if you go chronologically... Matt green, should be fun weathering it in this scale.

OK, this has now turned into a twin project. I bought a F-Toys F-100D pre-painted model for the drop tanks and other bits, I noticed it was a little short to be a "D" but could be turned into a F-100A with a little work.
