Besides the "MiG-projects" another Shooting Star descendant takes shape: I dared to begin Kitty Hawks F-94C Starfire. The kit impresses with it´s very thin and accurate parts and its, in my opinion, quite complex but elaborate layout. I amnot so happy with the somehow rough surfaces of the parts, this will require proper sanding before applying the NMF.

Hello Roland, first impression looks really good, the intake parts of this kit are looking not too easy...!

Interesting, very interesting...
But why are you "daring" building this kit? Is it such a dog to assemble?

I can´t say that by now!
"Daring", besides being used because of literary reasons 🙂, refers to remarks on the JAM forum about the not always pleasant experiences during building an Kitty Hawk Mirage F.1
Thank you Christian, you are right about the intakes! Parts are very thin, sanding is these filigran areas is quite a challenge.

Thank you both mates! Some new pictures of that rather strange looking "Starfighter". It needed some effort to fill and sand the surface structures, but after some corrections, I am rather confident that the Alclad will look not too bad.

Great job you are doing Rolland, I have this kit to build in the future as well, looks a bit more involved than I first thought, looking forward to seeing more photos, thanks for what you have shown.

That´s nice to hear- thank you all for these comments!
Indeed, Kitty Hawks Star Fire is not a weekend kit (if there really is such a thing out there!) I like the bunch of etched parts offered by KH, on the pictures you can see those intended to detail various flaps. I think they will look fine on the finished F-94!

Nearly all the metal-colour shades applied, in the rear area of the fuselage I will add some further "White Aluminum".

After some days off from modeling I did the decals on the Star Fire. I was quite curious about the quality- and I have to say these decals are excellent! A pure joy to apply and very willing to accept softener and setting solutions...
Before that some alterations to the metal colours on the fuselage have been done, especially on the rear part.
I think this project is not so far from being finished anymore, I am quite keen to see her on her own wheels 🙂
... and Calvin, no matter! As Lionel says...

Further pictures of the forthcoming project. Kitty Hawk prepared wonderful details for the wheel well and the landing gear; just a few wires of various diameter have been applied by me.
I hope to be able to finish that interesting project not so far in the future.

Thank you very much Marko,
this fancy Cold War fighter has been finished at last. This Kitty Hawk kit was one of the best kits I have ever seen and I am keen to start with the next one. No major problems have been encountered till the end... Thank you for interest and your comments!

LG Christian

Great work, really great. What is the overall quality of this kit? Fit? Shape issues etc?
