This kit has aftermarket radar, cockpit, 20mm cannon, missiles, landing gear bays, wheels, airbrakes, and exhaust, That's a lot of resin!

The Hasegawa design has some major improvements over the Academy one, particularly in the wing root and rear fuselage areas.

The afterburner was a very challenging item to paint both inside and out. The uneven exhaust stains are due to the radial spacing of the fuel injector nozzles.

The Aires airbrakes are nothing short of perfect. The basic kit's level of detail pales in comparison to these highly accurate brass and resin pieces.

The markings are for a ship in the 20th Fighter Wing, Air Combat Command, based out of Shaw AFB, in South Carolina.

The gold tint on the canopy was added by airbrushing a thin coat of Holbein acrylic paint. Also, note the scratch built grab bars fabricated from copper wire.

The photo etched brass radar dish is an excellent approximation of the real thing. A single coat of tan paint worked out decently well in my case, but I'm going to try for a more realistic glossy finish on the next one I build.
