Album info
These are the Supermarine type 300, K5054, conversion from the new Airfix mould of the Spitfire MK.I/IIa, and the Seafire fr.47 from Ventura Publishing.
The kits are very different in nature. The Ventura kit is a short run, very good shaped but it lacks a lot of details, and obviously needs a lot of work. I scratch built the full cockpit, the complete tail wheel system (my kit didn't have neither the wheel, nor the wheel doors), and other small bits.
A nice model can be done, but the big problem were the decals. It didn't matter whatever I did, they ghosted.I was a pity, because they looked at first glance as very nicely printed and in register.
On the Airfix kit, I modified the under wing radiator, the windscreen, and replaced the tail wheel. I also scratch built the exhaust pipes, and the serial number. I built the prototype in its maiden flight.
Perhaps they are far to be in the group of my best kits, but I had a lot of fun building them.
