LFG Roland D.II - KP Kit
Typical short run kit but fit is quite good with some brittle plastic, a few cockpit details and lot of cleaning/dry fitting.
Replaced wheels with a Roden's pair, scratch built a broken wing strut and repaired another one. Tail skid and a couple of smaller struts to be added while rigging.

I started building this kit with the D.IIa boxing, but later discovered that I should have modified the undercarriage struts and lengthened the nose, so I switched boxes and will do a D.IIa next time
Another change on the run... I realized that the emblem for "Edith" it is not the right shape, and the fuselage crosses are for the third option only ... So I am obliged to chose the machine with coat of arms of the City of Halle, with that strange trumpet-looking cross!
Ready for decaling... no other changes allowed!!!
Decals placed and protective coat is on. Panel line done with oils
KP's decal are really thin and the carrier film is almost invisible, if you manage to avoid it to curl under itself!. Colors saturation is perfect,
Top wing is dry-fitted only, cannot resist... 😉
Oil Dot Technique: I really like it!
Here I used for the first time W&N Galeria matt varnish, airbrushed diluted with isopropyl alcohol 99%, seems good.

Started rigging with Uschi SuperFine elastic thread: a sanity-saver!
Next step, top wing and struts assembly
Finished! I really like the final result despite being a quick build!

Very nice. Now I know where all these classical green-brown camos started 😄

Thanks Lukasz, compared to the glamorous livery sported by other contemporary plane looks quite dull, but its peculiar shape give it that "strange beauty" appearance!!!
