Album info

As a model for painting my models, I look for machines that are different from the established standard. In the case of this Mig, this was very difficult. He was flying at a time when (thanks to the socialist regime) no pictures were tolerated on military aircraft. Under the influence of communist propaganda, the command of the time considered such drawings on military equipment as bourgeois propaganda. If any drawings did appear on aircraft, they were overwhelmingly short-lived. As soon as someone from the command discovered them, the drawings had to be immediately erased and their author punished.
This Mig is one of the few exceptions. For some time it flew with the emblem of the city of Bechyně on the left side of the nose, shaded machine numbers and two oblique stripes on the vertical tailplane. The biggest rarity is the badly sprayed state emblems on the lower surfaces of the wings. According to current regulations, the blue areas on the emblem should face forward in the direction of flight, the red areas are always closer to the fuselage and the white areas are oriented towards the wing tips (as on the upper wing). On this Mig, the national emblems on the lower wing surfaces are sprayed in reverse. Today, no one can probably tell if it was intentional or a mistake, but the mechanics sprayed the national emblems on the underside of the wings backwards during the overhaul. The blue paint on the emblem is reversed. How long these reversed emblems lasted on the plane, I don't know. However, their appearance is documented in several photographs.
