Germany, oppressed at the end of WWII by American bombers, wanted to convert the Fw 190 D to fly at high altitudes, so that it could have a little fight with these flying fortresses. 😉 Nothing came of it, however, except for Kurt Tank's completely new design, the Ta-152. So much so that it was too late for any "rematch" against the Americans. 😄
