PANHTER ATTRAPPE - THE GERMAN MEGALOMANIAC VERSION FOR A GOOD AND SIMPLE RUSSIAN IDEA

After the discovery of the use of wooden bait tanks by the Russians, and in just two months after OKH submitted a request for German construction plans and tank measurements, the following files were passed on to the army and divisions at the front.

Despite no sign of Russian ingenuity in using readily available materials to quickly build a decoy vehicle to deceive the enemy. German construction manuals are complicated and mega-detailed instructions on how to build the perfect decoy. To build just one of these bait vehicles, you needed the labor of two or three carpenters, and these helped by another ten or twelve employees, lots of wood, lots of nails and tools, but the results are certainly impressive, as is the construction . instructions and diagrams.

The icing on the cake in German bait tank plans was the possibility of mounting speakers and gramophones to simulate the sound of a tank engine (page 4 of the tactical manual). Some special recordings had already been developed by Generalinspektor der Panzertruppen and Waffenamts and the duration of each record was approximately 4 minutes.

could be me but that looks more like a mock up of a T-34 than a panther. The exhausts and angle of the rear plate, the cupola, the gun mantlet.....T-34

I do have the same idea as Wim, looks more like a wooden target/mock-up representing a t-34/76... Did a search on the picture, andcame across this: henk.fox3000.com/t34-2.htm

When scrolling down, you have 2 pics, and the caption is:

German T34 wooden Mock-up - (Dummy Tank)
This vehicle were by the Germans used for training and was mounted on a Polish TKS chassis

So these were used to learn how to attack a T-34

that's right, you are correct! this first photo was the mock-up of the T-34 made by the Germans, the uploading of the photos didn't work very well here on the smartphone, I slept during the upload and I didn't see that the remaining photos failed! later I will upload via computer and all photos will go, including OKH plans for the panther attrappe (decoy tank)
