Gary Curling@Mr James
Hi mr James, your tiger paint scheme I think leans towards a Russian winter. You may know about night shift on YouTube,a big help to me watching his videos, the one about the tree was very good,as they are all very excellent.I struggle with figures too, especially the standard figures, have invested in a lot resin figures, iam told that they are easier to paint.I will probably practice a little more with the standard figures to use up my stash, and then start painting the odd one or two resin figures.keep at it with the figures you will get better the more you paint them.l was putting far to much paint on my brush, which didn’t help.good luck with the figures and diorama, looking forward to seeing it

Yeah, its the Russian front I was leaning towards. But then I saw a couple of excellent Ardennes Dio's but worried about the trees. When I saw your superb tree, it gave me hope again 🙂 But I think I'll stick to the Eastern front.
Nightshift is an excellent channel. Its where I learnt to chip, weather and apply washes. I'm now trying to do figures but like you, end up putting on too much paint, then it looks lumpy...errugh. I've recently switched to Vallejo as Tamiya paints are awful for figure painting I find.
Thanks for your tips and encouragement Gary. Its very much appreciated from experienced modellers like yourself.
Cheers, Justin

Hi Mr James sorry missed your question,i use ready mixed Bartoline all purpose filler from home bargins.Around £1.50.When dry i put vms smart mud on top,as you put it on with an old brush add a very very small amount of water to help you spred it.Then you can add small stones and grit.good luck its all a learning curve.

The work is great!!! It's too bad Eduard never provided a set for the more accurate and longer Academy kit.

Thanks. And yeah, it would have been nice. Although the Strykers in Afghanistan have slat on the rear door and that's about it, so you could get away with doing a modern, in-theater Stryker, but it'd take quite a bit of scratch.

For being braille scale, you did a great job on this model/dio! Nice paintjob on the soldiers, too! I like it!

Looks great, no idea how you managed to get facial expressions on a 1/72 figure!
