Im not a rivet counter or anything but.....
The more i looked at the kit boom i could not figure how it would work ..
Revell had their boom right im also going to support mine as they did and use poles instead of ratlines. Which tie down inside of the work area ?
Im not feeling that one either lol
Again thanks

A Lindberg kit? Seen them but never got one, yet. That looks amazing.

Started out life as a Pyro Plastics kit which in turn was a reverse-engineered copy (pretty much a blatant rip-off) of the Model Shipways wooden kit of the M.T. (Motor Trawler) Hildina H-222 which was built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell Ltd. in 1951. If you look for photos, you will see it matches the Hildina except for some artistic license in the pilothouse windows mainly but an easy fix. The sloped rear pilothouse roof is also a distinctive feature of the Hildina. Apparently the front boom can face forward or aft (is it on a swivel?) according to need. I know the boom was used to hoist the cod end (heaviest part of the net) aboard. These kits are a great basis for conversion to R/C as the original plastic kits were motorized.

The details on this kit are so crisp. Looking forward to seeing what you're doing to the rear section.

Me too. ( LOL )
thanks m0rce
5 October, 05:46
Snake Plissken
@M0rce I thought you meant where the deckhouse meets the wrap-around stern section; there's a bad gap there where the aft doors are, port and starboard, but maybe you meant the rear mast. Some trawlers only had a foremast and added a simple derrick to handle the lifeboat.

@Martin. The Rex mixer is quite large, however the KW Transit Mixer, is a tad smaller, and easily available on the current market. Get yourself one 😉

Actually I have just got the KW Transit from Amazon. Always wanted a mixer. Another model into the queue...
8 October, 18:49

I picked up the Mack DM800 Rex Mixer, in good condition. It was a highlight for me. The 800 is a tricky kit, but I had to have the mixer to complete the collection. I plan to do the tri-axle option, when I get around to it. But I gotta admit, the Paystar makes an awesome kit.
8 October, 22:59
Goldman
They are beasts. Just wonder why the rear fenders on the DM800 and Paystar mixers are so long - extending so much in front and arear of the tandem.
9 October, 04:26
Bozzer
In the kit, they explained how to convert it into the tri-axle. They even tell you what kit to buy, to extend it! Pretty good marketing, at the time, eh? Lol

Thank you Martin Oostrom, Goldman, Neuling, Bozzer. I like construction equipment and have a 1:50 diecast collection. I built the cement mixer because I liked the Ertl/AMT models of the "International" line. I have built the 1972 Scout, the 2011 ProStar, the PayHauler 350 and both the PayStar Cememnt Mixer and Dump Truck.

Curtis, you need more stuff!
The 360 backhoe.
The D8 dozer.
And of course, some lowloader trailers, to carry them!
(Don't forget to get some awesome semi's, to pull them?)
My name is Bozzer, I'm your bad influence 😉

I can attest to that. Ever since Bozzer showed up in a thread of mine, I've been buying truck stuff 😂

I have the AMT Caterpillar D8H Bulldozer, Lindberg 1968 Dodge + 1940 Ford + trailer, and AMT John Deere 310 Backhoe Loader. I will get more stuff and get more stuff finished. Thanks for the encouragement.

Bozzer
There's a very nice photo etch set, for the D8 dozer. I can't recall the maker at this time, but I've seen it and it's awesome. You can even get metal tracks for it, but I've only ever seen them online, once. We strive to do our best, but the main thing is, we just keep doing what we do.

Question for OP:
What brand might be selling vacuum formed clear parts? Seems like you found some as seen in photo #11. I've seen some for airplane/jet canopies, but none for cars, so I wouldn't know where to look.
3 June, 13:37
Alexander Grivonev
Hey Treehugger, the parts in the picture are part of the kit. But funny that you mention this topic because I actually dealt with this question myself recently. I finished two 964s earlier this year (Revell and Fujimi) and the clear parts in both kits were of very poor quality. Searched for aftermarket replacement and found nothing. So I decided to try myself at vacuforming and made the clear parts myself which turned out to be pretty decent (after countless tries and errors) I have not posted pictures of the builds yet but intend to, keep an eye open. You are right, there is definitely a lack of aftermarket windshields for cars...

Alexander, I'm really sorry about this mishap!
They show us the difference between a normal modeller and a master modeller: mishaps happen to both, but with you there's nothing to see afterwards!
19 September, 17:33
Alexander Grivonev
If you only knew how many car models I had to repaint! I honestly think most of them, partly or in whole. It is a rarity a paintjob succeeds at the first try. I don`t even call them "mishaps". Just "happy little accidents" like Bob Ross 😄
19 September, 17:46
bughunter
Oh yes, the famous late night painting sessions on TV with the "happy little trees" 🙂 I was always fascinated by his work!
19 September, 18:19
Alexander Grivonev
Exactly, the lullaby channel😄 no, the guy was really great.

But on the topic of repaintings again, I actually counted the car models which are right now in my home. There are a total 16 on display and I had to redo the paintjob on 9 of them! Partly or in whole. So that is actually not the exception but the rule 👍
19 September, 18:29
bughunter
Anyway, your car paint jobs here on SM are the reference for me, no kidding!
Thank you also very much for the detailed description about used paints, 2K stuff and thinners etc in your build logs 👍
Fortunately, I don't normally need such high-gloss finishes, but I have helped other modellers (no SM members - yet) several times by pointing them to your build reports.
Thank you very much, your documentation effort is highly appreciated!

Mr D, I must admit I had to google what "Rudge wheels" are. but it seems to be an own VW/Porsche design that differs from Rudge wheels. USCP sells them separately too.

Or.....I have a reeeeeeaaaally short attention span. Currently in my work area is this Alfa, Lancia S4, Lotus 102D, Peugeot 206 aaaaand a Suzuki. I will say, the Suzuki and Lotus stalled when I had to break out the air brush, but I did that today so maybe the attention will swing back ( if only for a moment😉 ).

Some 5 years later, I have finally got the top and bottom to join together ( mostly ). The PE mesh for the radiators had these useless sides that fouled everything so I finally cut those off. Then I find that the butt end wasn't fitting properly either. I had to grind down this white metal bit that was supposed to act as a guide.

Wow, that's some tedious work needed for the landing gear. Have you considered creating your own mold to copy the Fw-189/Hs-126 wheels? Just out of curiosity did it actually use the same wheels as these aircraft mentioned? I don't have the Mach 2 kit YET but I did pick up the AP Modely canopy while I still could. The owner of the company has decided to focus exclusively on TT-Gauge model train stuff but thankfully he still had some old stock on hand for a bunch of canopies with additional bits & bobs I wanted to snag. (Thank goodness for his Fujimi E14Y Glen set; That two piece cowling, that goes right across the "cylinder bumps," reminded me of the Italeri B-25H/J nightmare.)

I see you have a couple of reference books on the type - are there any decent images of this weird set of wings innards contained therein?
10 October, 17:58
Larry Cherniak
The millipede gear was my main holdup on this project. That and I had to wait a decade for my skills to catch up to my ambitions. But they now have, so this project may move up the list. 3D design and printing would be great but I don't do that, so scratching one set of two wheels and their gear and casting resin copies will be my way. Lets hope someone in Ukraine drops a new tool first! Yes, there are not only images and drawings but an excellent 1/15 scratchbuilt model by Gunter Sengfelder with many operating features, including flaps, in both books. Thank goodness I have already glued the wings together so I am no longer tempted to replicate all that structure!
Search for: ARADO Ar 232 „TATZELWURM" – der erste Kampfzonen-Transporter der Welt for a set of 2 articles (in German) with good pictures. As to the wheels, I have compiled a pdf of interchangeable Luftwaffe wheels based on Sengfelders German Landing Gear book. Of course, the hub size and design often changes, but it has proved an excellent resource for measuring kit and aftermarket wheels, and finding useful swaps (including across scales if you're clever with math!). I can share it with you if you provide a way. I once owned two (real) 700x175 smooth Fw190 tires and inner tubes, and found from that list that they may have been used on the Ta152H or even a Me163 takeoff trolley- and were the planned tires for the Ta183 jet.
11 October, 21:05
Tony May
As I haven't seen/handled the kit personally I can't really say much about the parts that Mach 2 provides for it - though I know they are extremely rudimentary judging by those I do have. However with how they are the dominant feature behind this aircraft I would imagine you'd absolutely want to do them right. I have never cast my own resin parts, I've read about it so I have the theory, just not the practical experience. Mars Models released some graphics for a new Tatzelwurm, but an Ar-232A-0 in 2018, as you can see under the topic Arado Ar 232, but there's been no news on it since to my knowledge.

Wow, a 1/15 scale model of the Tatzelwurm?! That's some crazy dedication there & what I really want to know is where he keeps it, his garage, a storage shed, a barn or perhaps he rents some hangar space? Sheesh! lol I found an image of a Mach 2 Ar-232 with the flaps deployed like you mentioned. This looks real similar to modern flaps used in commercial aviation to my eyes! That would've looked pretty interesting if you're into displaying your birds "extra dirty." (I've never dropped the flaps on one of my builds & have only built two aircraft models with the gear retracted for a ceiling display when I was far younger.) If you wanna take a look at this gent's work here's the address;

imodeler.com/2022/11..do-ar232b-transport/

As for those articles, they are FANTASTIC! Thank you very much for pointing me in this direction! They have been saved & cataloged for when I get around to that project! 😉 I'll send you a private message regarding the file you were talking about, because that'd be real handy, I wish there was something of similar comparison for British & American aircraft for WW2. (I mean, I know the Hellcat & Corsair used the same main wheels - but that's all I know.)
