TH SCALE MODELS (Thomas Haberl)
Welcome @Zsolt and DuperScale and thanks for your interest in this build. I was able to finish first step of cockpit section. 3D printed seats fit well into tracks even of they are designed to be glued on the plastic. I used Eduard PE tracks. Dashboard also made with PE. PE seat belts were planned but I felt they are too flat so I ordered Kelik 3D decals - they are better in my opinion.

@Michael: nice to see you here and glad you have fun 🤩 ICM plans to release the 1/72 in 2025 as far as I know and I have a good idea for a nice diorama. But definitelyI have to do this in 1/72 ... that thing is really big ...

There are three things I can't stress enough to anyone that wants to build this kit. First, dry fitting is essential! The kit's engineering doesn't seem problematic at first, but it will be a huge challenge. In fact, I actually wish I had built it up quickly using Elmer's or other water soluble glue before I cleaned up or painted any parts, so I could understand how everything would fit together. Only after I understood how everything fits together would I then drop it in water to dissolve the glue and then clean up/paint parts and start building it properly. Second, some parts will need a LOT of work to clean up properly, and it won't be easy either. There's flash, molds that weren't lined up properly, warped body parts, sink marks, thick clear parts, and horrible sprue joins. Lastly (and related to dry fitting), it is incredibly difficult to use the kit's pilot because you have to glue his arms into place long before you'll know whether they actually line up with the controls - you basically have to glue the fuselage together in order to find out whether arms and yoke line up.

Also beware that the kit's engineering makes very difficult to address the seam lines in the cockpit ceiling and the back wall.

When I got a photo showing a Pz. I towing a Ju-87, possibly on an airfield in North Africa, I definetely want to build that scenery. The Pz. I is a mix of parts from S-Model Pz. I Ausf. A and B, the Ju-87 is Italeri. I bought some Quickboost add on parts which are designed to fit the Airfix kit, but with slightly modifications they although fit quite well the Italeri kit.

Thank you Tom and Alec. SSMODEL only has a shop at AliExpress. I was a bit hesitant to order there, because there is a lot of rumor about piracy products over there. But once I did not found something similar I want to order from them I registered and ordered at AliExpress. Payment was easy via PayPal and delivery absolutely in time. I also ordered one of the SSMODEL vehicles, Marder III Sd.Kfz.139 SSMODEL 1:72 72725. The details are top notch, but the printing quality in between excellent and poor. The chassis, tracks and single parts are excellent, but the gun mount and gun shield are not so nice. The gun mount is warped and the gun shield has a lot of steps on the inner and outer side. It also differs from the instructions where gun mount and shield are shown as separate parts but it was delivered as a single part. That makes it even more complicated to solve the issues. But I think I will give it a try for another scale 1/72 kit in the future.

WIP painting the Ju-87. Underside in RLM65 Hellblau is done as well as RLM70 Schwarzgrün. Depicting the references I have, the paint seems to have a weathered look, which I took in consideration by highlighting the basic paint.
Next will be the camo with RLM71 Dunkelgrün and a white band on the rear of the fuselage.

WIP on my Ju-87 scenery. I rrplaced the First to Fight Pz.I by the one from S-Model but replaced the tracks by 3D printed ones from SSMODEL.
That will come together nicely with a nice contrast in between all of the colours, sand brown Pz.I and the Ju-87 with a standard camouflage in green.

There is a lot of masking needed to paint the Ju's splinter camouflage.

Only the rear fuselage and tail end is missing. So I have a plan for tomorrow 😁

And the final one I wanted to finish for SMC 2024. A Pz.I towing a Ju-87.
The diorama is based on an original photo taken in North Africa in spring 1941 by a member of Panzerregiment 5. Less is known about the incidence, but it seems the Ju-87 has to make an emergency landing and was now towed by the little Pz.I out of harms way. According to my research and the help of a modelling friend who has a main interrest in Junkers aircraft, the Ju-87 B2 seems to be a machine from II. Gruppe 8./SG2 with the marking T6 + BR.
The Pz.I was built out of the S-Model kit, the Ju-87 is Italeri. Figures are White Stork. Painting was done using acrylics and oils. The wooden base was made by Roland Dörrich.

Happy Modelling

I want to know the name of your local, because it's selling bloody strong beer!

Lol, increase the ventilation in your workspace. The glue fumes help, but too much can impair your judgement? I was actually over your way, ish, recently. Draycott in the Clay? I'm sure that I got a whiff of Tamiya Extra Thin? Lol

Bozzer err....what video is that? Don't let us distract you from your current projects.
After 4 days in the freezer I have managed to dismantle the previously built parts and now have a complete chassis (ideal for another project in the pipeline).
The floor piece will need some work to allow the engine to fit and maybe a flip front end to show it off.

Some early prep work on the 3D-printed 572 Chevy engine from Iceman Collections which looks superb!
Just a couple of minor edges to fill on the sump and fine cracks in the longer stacks to superglue.
I drilled out all the mounting points for better fitting parts and washed everything ready for paint.
24 May 2023, 03:35
Nigel Chapman
I too have the Bozzer Syndrome - can't sit idle whilst parts dry/cure so a bit of Dremel action on the G Wagon floor to create the engine space.
The Iceman Collections gasser chassis fits nicely to the floor shape up front.
The rear looks like needing some extra support.
10 June 2023, 20:57
Bozzer
Can't fault you mate. Idle hands, and all that? Because of the glorious weather we've had, this last two weekends, I've started on my new cave. I've got some pictures, but they're nothing spectacular yet. I'll throw them together and maybe create an album? Currently, I have all 4 sides framed. Now I need to get the ply. I've secured 34 sheets of 8x4 1/2". They will form my walls, floor and roof. The exterior will be cladded and the interior painted. I just hope that this weather holds out for a few more weeks? My plan is to remove the old garden shed, assemble the new cave, then move the old cave stuff, into the new cave, in a weekend. Lol, I know, I'm nuts!

Always interesting projects missed this one
Coming along good
15 June 2023, 02:23

Waiting for paint to dry on my other two builds so turning my attention to the G Wagon.
So far it's been mods to the axle stubs to accept the option wheels from the Studebaker Raceliner.
After some drilling and sanding, all the wheels will now locate and attach to the chassis.
Pieces of Evergreen 4.8 mm tube have also been added to the rear stubs for extra strength and a more meaty look.
Brass 1 mm rod and 2 my tube have been used to make adapters for the rear wheels.
1 mm rod will be used for the fronts.
9 June, 19:50
Nigel Chapman
Managed to break the rear axle stubs on the chassis already (!) so drilled out a new 1 mm hole in the rear axle and adapted the rear wheels to fit accordingly with Evergreen tubing and 1mm brass rod.
Mods to the floor pan to accept the rear chassis completed.
Both front and rear Iceman chassis pieces attach via "slots" so you either add or in my case remove material for the perfect fit. Absolute genius.
First test fit looks god but I want the front end slightly higher.
26 June, 10:23
Nigel Chapman
Moving on with this build and making progress with the big block Chevy engine.
I need the complete engine made up to determine the placement within the chassis and body.
The prewired distributor came off EBay making the job so much easier.
Every Gasser should have a flip front so that's what I have done, removing the front end using a scriber on the existing body lines. This means of course more front detailing than I normally do - oh joy!
1 October, 14:55
Nigel Chapman
Been doing some research on gasser design which prompted me to rebuild all the chassis mods so far.
For my application, the engine needs to sit higher in the frame so the original engine mounts were removed and new ones fabricated. It also sits at a slight angle (3 degrees in reality) as this would generate more down force to the rear axle.
The original gearbox support has been extensively modified and moved slightly forward for a better fit.
The X frame has been replaced using slightly smaller diameter square section placed lower between the chassis rails to enable the prop shaft to fit.
This becoming a fascinating project.
9 October, 20:30
Nigel Chapman
Always up for a challenge I've been having a go at making my own custom gasser headers as the engine kit headers were not suitable.
I've used Evergreen 223 tube with 1 mm metal rod and bent to shape. This is rhe second attempt.
