Slight discrepancy on plans relative to false keel so adjusted slots for rake of main and rear mast. 

Bulwarks 

New stem from walnu 

Installing the bulkheads. My false keel was slightly warped so added braces between the bulkheads to help straighten it out. 

 

 

 

 

 

Stern framing 

Problem - figurehead doesn't work with kit stem and the rake of the bowsprit. Will need to carve my own figurehead. 

Adding deck frames. 

 

First planking with filler blocks at bow. 

 

The white metal decorative pieces in the kit are great in some cases, and not so great in others. Will scratch build the decorative pieces.

Unlike many of the more modern kits, this kit did not include a gunport pattern. So, the builder has to mark out and cut the gunports out. Many hours of work to make sure that the gunport were symmetrical as to starboard and port sides, that the gunport followed the natural curve of the gun deck, etc.  

 

 

 

Gunport finally cut out and lined with padouk. 

How I constructed the gunport frames to make sure they were square and the same size and shape.
