Kawanishi H8k2 type 2 "Emily"
Dry fitting of the major parts. Simply perfect.
The internal is obviously simplified. Large room for a big Ed PE kit and scratchbuild.
The only downside for now is the numerous ejector pin signs inside the fuselage. Ok they won't be really visible through the canopy and the gunners openings... But I will do only one Emily in my life, so it must be well made. So filler and sanding.
Eduard Big Ed fits perfectly to the Emily. Eduard made good research job on the Emily. Still some things to add, minor issues.
I decided to modify the kit structure in the gunners section. Hasegawa has considerably simplified the inner structure, probably to give more strength to the wing spar. So let's cut!
Before and after modification
After modification: the wing inner structure is visible just like the real thing. This area was in fact an auxiliary gunnery place by opening the underwing windows.
Rear section floor from the box
And after using Eduard PE and adding scratch. Still a lot to do but I am very happy with the result.
Installed inside the fuselage.
Upper gunner platform completed.
Detailing proceeds on the left fuselage
Adding the gunner blister window and Eduard resin gun mount. Very delicate part.
Finishing the structure with the gunner blister.
Happy with the result. Now the same job must be done on the left side...
Forward bulkhead of the rear compartment needs some detailing. I added the structure beams and the flaps actuation system.
Flaps actuation bell crank and hydraulic actuator.
The small PE piece attached to the crank lever is the flap angle indicator. It will be completely invisible once closed, but I know it's there!!
