Beautiful result.
I love this aircraft, and I have the same kit in my stock. It's destined for a whif in the near future.
I won't be using any decals except of the stencils. Are those any good or should I go for aftermarket?
Any other tips for the built? Cheers

Thank you all friends 🙂
Dimitris, this is a very "week" kit in all aspects, wrong (ver wrong) shape, the fit is not the worst but there are some parts that require lots of work to have a good fit (the air fins are all... well very very bad) the front landing gear is a disaster, really, the parts are to large for the wheel and in the finish it will be not centered. The decals are all out of register, all of them so i advice you to get others. The cockpit is almost empty the seat and the control stick is all you get but very bad represented so... ahh the lines VERY deep, i sanded all the aircraft to reduce it but in vain... well to make it a nice reproduction of the real thing the solution is to buy the 1/48 kit 😄 😄 this one is the only one available in this scale and only for that, i think Amodel have one, dont know the kit but probably is better than this one... not very difficult 😄

Oh, you broke my heart
I'll leave it in my stash then, for when my skills become better. Don't wanna ruin it now.
Thanx for the info, and a critique is a critique despite of it says either bad or good things, as long as it is true.
Cheers again

How about the Amodel kit? It's newer than the Revell kit, maybe it's a little better? Has anyone built it?

I have the 38U from Amodel.
That is to say, the box illustrates a 38M and that is what I thought I had bought but when I opened it it contained the two seater ....
Very nice panel lines but very rough casting with lots of flash and massive sprue gates.
Typical Amodel, some very delicate parts and some chunky lumps of plastic.
Don´t think I´ll ever build it 🙂

As said before, the Yak-38 it's a beautiful single seater aircraft,
Sadly, the -U it's a monstrocity!!! The ugly sister 🙂

Well i think that the Amodel is better, at least it looks much more accurate than the "Revell" kit! If anyone is thinking about one... i would go to the Amodel kit

How about the old Hobby Craft kit? Might be hard to find.
Other choices, like ACE, Tsukuda, and Kangnam are identical to Revell. I believe that mould originated with Tsukuda.
The Scalemates timeline also shows 1:72 kits from Alanger and Interavia (the latter has both single and dual seat versions in the same kit, I think). I've never heard of these last two.

The kit must have been ugly, but you did make it shine! Very nice painting and finish Vitor, as we have come to expect from you 😉

Album info
Hello friends
here is the last one from the workbench.
The "Revell" 1/72 kit, well... this is not a very good kit, shape is wrong, poor's and missing details, awful decals, hard and off registration... well i didn't like this one at all, lots of work to make it "shine" a little bit.
I have made some scratch in the cockpit because this one was almost empty...
well the pictures... the pictures will show some of the points i mentioned before.
I hope you like it, well more than i did 🙂 🙂
