Looking forward to this one. Not built a Zvezda kit before. Very impressed so far.

Following. The La-5/7 line is sort of the Soviet Fw 190 imo. Very good aircraft, and made mostly from wood.

Hi Alec. I was wondering about that. Was the main fuselage wood ? That would explain all the internal ribbing. Cant find much info on the web. Do you know any sources ? or books ?

I recommend reading the LAGG-3 article on Wikipedia, it gets into construction details. Good book is below.

The LA-5 is coming along nicely. I used the dash with relief so had to cut up the decals but prefer it to the optional flat version. The seatbelts are Eduard and help to spruce things up a bit.

Yaaa. Finished it. Great kit. Little bit of scratch building to open up the engine compartment. Not built Zvezda before. Very impressed.

Thanks Alec K. Quite straightforward as most of the engince cover parts had pre-cuts already which made it all a bit more straight forward. Nice one Zvezda. Will be getting more of their kits. Cut up butter carton used for the panel supports. Hinges - just steel wire.

Such a cool looking aircraft. Up there with the Spitfire I think.
