IJN Ise (Fujimi)

My 2nd ship in this scale; on the RN Roma I wasn’t happy with the wood effect of the aft deck, so I decided to put in some more effort this time. In total some 500 planks are molded (each 30x1 mm, probably overscale) and these were masked with precut strips and sprayed in 5 different woodlike colours. I’m quite pleased with the overall effect! 

The hangar/carrier deck gave some fitting problems (also reported by other builders) but not too bad. Fujimi kits are quite expensive but this one was worth every yen! In my stash are the Zuikaku and Kongo. 

The suggested colours were used from the Gunze range, it ends up rather dark but that adds to the ominous threatening look of the model. 

The unusual battleship/carrier hybrid is what attracted me. 

I feel rigging is also a step up from the previous project.
