Homebrewed static grass applicator
This is the electronic material I'll use.
The switch is placed.
From the inside, with the two LEDs.
A preview of the final shape of the thing. The arm coming out will contain the battery and the 12v power supply connector.
The static grass "hopper" is prepared.
This is where the "y-handle" will connect to the "hopper".
Same from the inside.
The mesh comes from a (actually not so) cheap strainer.
Epoxy-glued inside the lid.
"Hopper" is ready.
Now come the (very!!!) hard part for me: I have virtually no clue about electronics and I need to solder the resistors, etc. in the right way... This IS stressful! 😉
The DC power connector is a bit bulky, so I needed to find a solution to hide it.
Wire spaghetti, anyone?
Getting the hang of it, somehow.
Wire to the mesh: no as easy as it looks, the mesh doesn't take to the solder easily.
Ended up having a big blob of solder on either side.
And this is the result!
I tested it and... <drumroll> IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL!
(I'm NOT surprised...)

Hi René, great post! I'm just getting into electronics myself, and am planning on making one too, Interesting design!

Thanks. I couldn't find the right stuff for the handle, so I improvised...

This is the stressful part for me! Haven't got a single clue of what I'm really doing... 😉

That's how it begins... 😎
I just got my first breadboard starter set, and have no idea what all those components are for yet, except for the leds and resistors. I've also got fiber optic cable on the way.
Gotta start somewhere!

Soooo... Finished it! There's just one tiny little snag...
It doesn't work at all! 😉
I'll double check all of the wiring and see what I can do.
Just not today!

I made one out of a bug zapper, and the only thing that got zapped was me. It did not generate any static electricity at all, but shocked me several times really good 😛 Oh well, that's how we learn!
