Monogram 1/72 F-4D Phantom II - Vietnam War
A real oldie I picked up at an airshow ages ago. Complete except for the nosewheels but luckily had some suitable stand-ins of unknown origin.
Intakes and interior bits sprayed, wings assembled.
Cockpit is nice out-of-the-box
Fuselage assembled
Wheel wells sprayed, nasty seams on the flaps
Assembly progressing...
... intake design is a really weak point of this kit. Difficult to get the sidewall aligned to the underside... used some scraps to force alignment.
...with brute force required as well. Say bye bye to the detail there.
Mission accomplished! rescribed damaged panel lines.
Masking cockpit
Priming and pre-shading done
Underside sprayed and masked
Tan coat on, used AK Interactive acrylics
More masking for the greens...
... and greens done
Looks good after de-masking, except for puling of a flake of green.
I used decals from Wolfpack decals, same subject as the kits decals but these were the old, thick Monogram ones I did not dare to use.
Messed up slightly with the green cockpit band, trimmed the carrier film off too far losing some of the white edges...
Matt coat and weathering done, metal areas sprayed, installing gears
spent an evening applying tiny decals from a Hasegawa to the missiles. Replaced two Sparrows with Hasegawa ones.
Sticking on the nasty bits.
And one more done!
