"Woodstock Nation" Morane Saulnier I

Album image #1
The kit is simple and should be fun....thinking about making a "Woodstock Nation" version of this with friendly decals, a flower in the gun....and green EZLine for rigging...

Album image #2
...this washing and drying time does not count against the 24 hours...(I've sometimes taken 5-10 models with me when I travel and clean them in hotel rooms as a zen exercise) ....these are thoroughly cleaned sprues and hopefully will take primer well.....but, cleaning time is not building time....hey, these are MY rules....

Album image #3
..a photo taken today near here....

...this is the Pacific Northwest of the United States....

Album image #4
"Dr. Death" decal (seen here with chocolate muffin and glass of milk) simply would have no place in the Woodstock Nation version of this airplane....lets see....a story to match the aircraft...oh, yes...this was a hobby plane used after the war....that's it....

Album image #5
Indeed, the Woodstock Nation version will have no guns....because that would not match the story made up to match the aircraft....

Album image #6
Off we go...Started at 6:15pm local time and at 8:54 we were here

Album image #7
...at the 8:30 mark of elapsed modeling time...all is built and primed....and the whistle blown so sleeping and eating can take place....

Album image #8
......started back up the next day...with the basic color being Mission Models MMP-039 British Sand Yellow Modern AFV...

Album image #9
.....wheels masked and ready to paint...wish me luck...the first attempt to hand paint one of these was not working....
....I should have done this in the first place but these masks are the sizes they are and might not be a perfect fit...not their fault...

Album image #10
....nothing beats a varnish that dries in minutes for this project...base color sealed and ready for panel lines and decals....mostly OK for the paint result....

....time updating the webeverse about this very important initiative does not count, as does feeding....so, a stopping point 11:30 hours in....

Album image #11
....decals all came from decal sheets from French aircraft....I have no idea what that rooster means to the French, but it was just right for this little airplane...no idea what the symbol on the tail means either....

Album image #12
....happy with the wheels and the final push is rigging....

Album image #13
All done....just over 22 hours of waking time later....that was a kick....photos to follow...

Album image #14
The "24 hour" result before retouching....note incorrect paint on engine cowling....but, not bad and it was a kick...fixes and more photos to follow

Also, note one rigging line is missing from the front...that is fixed now

One last "24 hour" result photo before retouching....fixes and more photos to follow

This fun project lacked one crucial item to make it an official "Woodstock Nation" edition...a flower and flowerpot, instead of a gun....the folks at Eduard came through with some fun etch of various foliage....so...

Album image #29
....the smallest of the flowers seemed about right...

Album image #30
....a small piece of styrene is the "flowerpot" and it really is a peaceful warrior now...

Very interesting job! Following!

PS I'm really surprised that in the Isle of Man heavy snowfall can occur!

....it is a different isle of man than you might think....not so well known...its all a joke...it is nice to to live in Man Town on the Isle of Man......it does feel like an island of men here sometimes...who respond in manly ways to snowfall like this...see photo...

...this is the Pacific Northwest of the United States....and all the passes over the Cascade Mountains are closed....

I can help with picture n. 12: on the tail you applied the symbol of GBA 1/51 1ere Escadrille. GBA stands for : Groupe Bombardament Assault

Nice christmas-card-picture 😉

Can you post some pictures of the rigging? I'm building a Camel, and looking at other people doing the rigging. Thanks.

Thank you....this was fun....

.....The paint and rigging went very well...love the masking on the wheels....

...more attention was needed on the panel lines...some pencil marks are off the target...but, it is hard to see in this little scale...and I wish the cockpit rim was a bit smoother line....In all, a worthy model project...

Folks....Mission Models MMP-039 British Sand Yellow Modern AFV is not be confused with Mission Models 044 British Light Stone...they are similar but, as I have discovered, not the same....

Somehow I switched (both British colors...my only defense) to the 044 color for the prop cover and for touchups....so, redo the prop and engine cover and fix those funky touchups.....

A couple of original photos will stay up but it will be fun to make this little guy even better....i hope...and make new pictures...

Needless to say, racing stripes would have been welcome on the WN Edition, yes?

Look for stripes running horizontally soon...seems I missed those the first time round and it wudda binezy.....

...pushing the modeling envelope would have been adding strips to the wings with thin masking tape then painting over them for a shadow effect...that takes time but its only two wings...

...perhaps an easier addition would have been scribing a horizontal seam for the elevator and adding control horns (that was done on the rudder, it had no seams or horns...those were PE)...that was doable in this 24 hour window..the other...a real push...both...no way...

....could not leave well enough alone and the lack of a flower and pot for this "Woodstock Nation" edition did nag at me...really....so, one was added...now, peace is the theme...

Two more copies of this neat little kit on the way...lets see what happens with a bit of time and patience....and black rigging...

Album info

How small can kits actually be made? I spent some time this morning posting all the tiny models on the shelf into the SCM Stash

This one stood out. It actually calls for extensive rigging. We have a forecast of heavy snow in the next day. So, I decided to see how far I can get on this model in 24 hours. Everything else gets set aside and this little gem gets built...with green EZLine because, for some reason, I have 3 rolls of that.

Went with a friendly "Woodstock Nation" theme for the decals because the kit pieces (Dr. Death, for example) were not fun....
