Album image #3
an interesting piece of machinery to look at

Album image #4
later pulled in some kind of backyard (?)

Album image #5
the scene i want to recreate

Album image #6
current state of the Model. Built in 2016 with a horrible paint job.

Album image #7
after removing the mudguards i noticed the tracks were straight

Album image #8
put them down a little more realistically, but didn't glue them back in for later painting purposes

Album image #9
opened the rear turret hatch, built some handles, removed the tools that were molded to the hull, and removed the missing exhaust pipe. relocated the left rear mudguard to the right and caved in like it can be seen in the last photograph of the tank

Album image #10
Also removed the towing cables and front mudguards, drilled out the missing gun and removed the track links from the hull and turret

Album image #11
tried my hand on some custom Zimmerit. completely out of scale because its 1/72 and not 1/35 but it makes the model at least a bit more interesting and im mostly treating this build as an experiment.

Album image #12
primed to get a better picture of how the Zimmerit turned out

This is pretty cool. Building around a missing piece sounds like a fun challenge. I do the same sort of thing all the time except it's because I dropped a piece and can't find it, so not as much by choice lol.

This looks like a brave approach and so far a good one. Looking forward to see more!

Album info

The Tiger II 113 got knocked out in Mons, Belgium in september 1944 during the retreatment of German forces from France and Belgium.

I decided to build this diorama because it features a Tiger II without its gun. I originally built this model in 2016 but took the gun for a different project because I was unhappy with its paint job. Now i have decided to reuse this broken model to create a realistic diorama
