Building Monogram's "B-52 and X-15" in 1/72 scale
Added neodymium magnets on the wing pylon where the X-15 will be attached. Since the pylon was hollow and there was enough space available, I filled the hollow part with putty (AK grey acrylic putty). Due to the amount of the putty it took time to harden. When it was still soft I attached three neodymium magnets. I found that ferrite magnets have a reduced effectiveness when thick plastic (the X-15 wall) intervenes between them.
When the putty was still soft but not sticky, I pushed the upper half of the x-15 fuselage in order to shape the putty with it.
I left three neodymium magnets free to connect with the three magnets on the other side. Added CA glue to keep magnets in place.
Testing that the magnets will sustain the aircraft's weight.
Today the vacuformed FALCON crystal clear canopies for B-52D arrived. They are perfect.
After a minor grinding the tail gunner's canopy fits perfect.

A few days ago I found that I miss the canopy of the tail turret. No disappointment I managed to order a vacuform from ebay. Hope it fits well 🙂

Hello! Currently I am working on adding magnets on B-52 and X-15 and also attaching the missing vacuformed tail turret canopy.

Progress review.
* Finished X-15 assembly and basic painting.
* Since the kit provides parts for both closed and open front wheel this is not glued. This will provide different presentation options later.
* Small magnets were placed both on the scramjet and the ventral fin. Again this will give various presentation options.
* Painted the pilot and the stand.
