I came across a description of Von Thoma's surrender in James Lucas' "War in the Desert." Lucas gives a firsthand account in full, written by Trooper Lindsay of the 10th Hussars. He and the officer in his Dingo Scout Car, Captain Grant Singer, were first fired upon by Von Thoma's Panzer IV; then they called in an artillery strike on the tank's position. When they returned, they found Von Thoma waiting to surrender.
