1939 Withdraw to Romania
RWD-13, HQ Bomber Brigade Liaison, 1939

Following Zumbach’s accident and surgery in Warsaw he underwent recovery at a sanitarium in Zaleszczyki. When the war began he tried to find his unit, and on the 3rd September he was allocated to HQ of the Bomber Brigade as a liaison pilot. Still looking for the 111th squadron, he flew east in a civilian RWD-13 SP-BMF and on the 17th September flew to Romania, landing at Tulcea.
