Falklands War - Argentine Skyhawk

Airfix's Douglas A-4 Skyhawk (A55203) built as A-4Q 3-A-305 of the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina deployed to the ARA Veinticinco de Mayo aircraft carrier during the Falklands War.

Built using Pavla resin parts (C72110) and Xtradecal's X72154 set. I can recommend the decals, albeit with some cracking on the tail decal. As for the Pavla resin, I will not be buying any more of their products and using the ones I have with extreme caution.

Through a mixture of poor quality resin parts and my own abundant mistakes, this build took a lot longer than I had hoped. Frankly it wasn't as fun as I had hoped. All that said, I am content with the finished model and think I've done the airframe justice. I am fonder of the Skyhawk than when I started building the kit, always a good sign.

Airfix's kit goes together well and there are plenty of things they've done to make the modeller's life easier. Some of the sprue attachments however left substantial holes when removed from the gates, and these were difficult to fill. Perhaps my kit was part of a problem batch, as I've never experienced this before with any other kit.

Conclusion: I recommend this kit and the Xtradecals set. Stay away from Pavla resin.
