Construction

The dreaded start.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/7/3/3/1596733-37925-28-720.jpg)
Test fitting the fuselage. So far no major issues.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/7/3/4/1596734-37925-58-720.jpg)
The question is: Will the fit be just as good when all the guts are in?
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/8/7/8/1596878-37925-76-720.jpg)
Fiddely bits…
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/8/7/9/1596879-37925-97-720.jpg)
I have decided to remove the doors as these were often removed on the real planes too.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/8/8/0/1596880-37925-85-720.jpg)
A doorway is born.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/4/9/4/1598494-37925-62-720.jpg)
First problem encountered: She’s big… really big. So where she’s gonna live once she leaves the workbench I’m not sure.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/9/5/1598495-37925-88-720.jpg)
Here’s a Gee Bee for comparison.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/1/1/2/1604112-37925-12-720.jpg)
The kit oxygen bottles have been removed in preparation for the better Eduard 3d printed oxygen bottles.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/1/1/7/1604117-37925-63-720.jpg)
Sanded down and almost ready. All that’s needed now is the insulation fabric.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/1/2/2/1604122-37925-75-720.jpg)
Test fitting all the time.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/1/2/3/1604123-37925-93-720.jpg)
These bronze legs from Eduard was a massive improvement over the original legs. And they can handle more weight too.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/1/2/4/1604124-37925-79-720.jpg)
Wooden floor in place in the cockpit. For some reason this floor section was not included in the Eduard wooden floors kit.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/1/9/4/1610194-37925-64-720.jpg)
Finally some colors! The oxygen bottles sure add a splash of colors to the otherwise drab cockpit.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/1/9/5/1610195-37925-25-720.jpg)
Next up will be adding wires and tubing.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/8/5/9/1610859-37925-46-720.jpg)
The central control quadrant is more or less finished now.
On another note: The worn effect on the floor was accomplished with the hairspray technique.

![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/8/6/0/1610860-37925-23-720.jpg)
Small splashes of color here and there sure does help.

Had new control yokes designed and 3d printed by my friend Stian Sørby. I felt this was necessary as the kit yokes were way of.
This control yoke can now be found as a 3d file over at Cults3d. Just search for B17 and you’ll find it after a short scroll. Go give him some love, and make sure to to tell him Stein sent you.

The improvement is insane.

All that I need to add to the new yokes are the protective skin covering at the bottom of the stick.

Seats and control yokes installed.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/7/2/2/1612722-37925-31-720.jpg)
The 3d printed yokes really makes the cockpit shine.

It’s gonna be a tight squeeze.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/7/2/0/1617720-37925-56-720.jpg)
Started adding electrical wiring to the tub. Next up will be the oxygen feed tubes.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/7/2/1/1617721-37925-43-720.jpg)
It’s beginning to get a bit cramped.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/7/2/2/1617722-37925-85-720.jpg)
There will likely be a few errors here and there, but probably nothing I can’t live with.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/7/2/3/1617723-37925-97-720.jpg)
Cocktail sticks are underrated when it comes to painting small details.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/8/7/2/1628872-37925-77-720.jpg)
Added a few details to the seat backs. These are mostly correct. The rest will go under "artistic license".
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/8/7/3/1628873-37925-85-720.jpg)
Everything is better with paint.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/8/7/4/1628874-37925-28-720.jpg)
I sure wasn’t kidding when I said it would get cramped. Can’t imagine how it must have been in the real planes.
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/8/7/5/1628875-37925-21-720.jpg)
Hopefully I’m on the last leg of this cockpit adventure now.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/8/7/6/1628876-37925-23-720.jpg)
Just some minor touch ups left, like levers and wires.
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/8/7/7/1628877-37925-73-720.jpg)
The oxygen system is more or less done.
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/8/7/8/1628878-37925-91-720.jpg)
On the floor I’ve added the wire channel and a mystery box for the top turret. Just a few wires, and this will also be done.

Wow, the kit's original "steering wheel" doesn't even look right in photo 19. What a surprise. Aftermarket "steering wheel" looks really nice ofc.
