Thanks George. It's a nice kit, but the plastic is a bit reactive with the SMS paints that I use. I've had to use Tamiya primer on the body and that seems to be working fine. Shame I nearly ruined it when it blew off my painting stand. I've upgraded to the Tamiya paint stand now. I've also got the cabriolet and the TWR European Touring Car Champs 1984 winner in the stash. The latter is my all-time favourite race car.

Excellent detailing. I am a bit jealous of your talent. Keep up the good work.

SMS paints are a bit hotter than Tamiya. Use thin layers with a 5-10 minute break between layers, and build up the colour. Go too heavy and the plastic can react. And a primer is always advisable.
When using the Tamiya stand, use a bit of masking tape to secure the body to the metal wires. Just tape them to the body. I've learned that the hard way…
Despite all your setbacks, a very nice build 👍

Thanks everyone. @Martin, I always use a primer, even on very small parts. Apart from the way the steel changed colour when the clear was put on, the main issue with the plastic in this kit was the interior. Even with very light coats of paint it was reacting badly. It was a bit better with some Humbrol enamel applied before the SMS. I always use tape with my Tamiya stand as well. You can't be too careful. The accident I had with the body was with my old stand which was made from coat hanger wire. It had become a bit too loose and couldn't handle the pressure.

@Martin, after the problem with the steel colour on the body, I couldn't repaint it as I had already put the decals on it, including the red stripes, and I wasn't going to try and get replacements. It was fine after one coat of gloss. I must have been a bit too heavy on the second coat. Never mind, it looks OK. After all that, SMS brought out a really nice dark metallic grey in their auto colours range which would have been perfect for this kit and would have been much easier to paint.

@Curtis, don't be jealous. I've just looked at your LAPD truck. You have a few skills of your own.
