Unfortunately the model has suffered unrepaired damage and will not be completed. 😥 Maybe I will buy the kit again later.

Oh, I am so sorry, it looked absolutely superb! 🙁 But I know, these things happen from time to time, one bad move and it all goes down the drain.

It happened that I overdid the chipping. When it was done, I felt I had chipped too much paint. These Zeroes were not as characteristically worn as the green ones. I thought I'd start over and started washing it off with thinner. The Leveling thinner didn't clean it off though, it just mixed the paint with the metallic paint. I tried to wash it off with Mr. Tool Cleaner, but it immediately dissolved the plastic, deforming the wing.
So sadly, I gave up on it. I dismantled the landing gear, cockpit, propeller and engine cowling, which I was able to salvage and will use in another project later.

I feel you, have been in the same situation. Great that you were able to salvage some parts. Keep up the good work!👍🏻

A good rule of thumb when chipping, when you get to the point where you say "maybe just a bit more"......STOP! Leave the model for a couple of days or a week then take a look at it again. At that point you will, in most cases, say just right.

This is a hard rule to master. Even with my super worn Hawker Typhoon I should have stopped sooner.

Yes go and get another kit and use the wonderful work to finish that one or use what you salvaged to add to a diorama. (striped down cockpit trainer with some pilots and instructors observing) There are so many good IJN figures in1/72 these days.
