ROCON 2012 IPMS Rochester NY USA
My 1:72 kitbash Lightning (Tumpeter/Matchbox) took first place in 1:72 Jet category, plus the award for best aircraft of the show.
My last flight Tomcat, 1:72 Hasegawa F-14D, garnered second place in the same category as my Lightning.
The 1:72 Mustang, from Revell of Germany, took second place in 1:72 Single Engine Prop category. First rate was an absolutely stellar 1:72 Monogram Bearcat. Completely rescribed, with many scratchbuilt components, It beat my Mustang by a mile!!
My F-4EJ Kai took first place in the Aircraft Conversion (all scales) category (the original kit was an F-4F, and the wings and stabilizers needed modification, and a whole lot of ECM bumps and fairings also needed to be added).
I entered this 1:72 Fujimi YSH-2E Seasprite LAMPS on a lark - I built this way back in 1989. Surprisingly, it took first place among six entries in the 1:72 Helicopter (all scales) category. I never expected that!
My 1:72 CMR resin Buccaneer kit took first place in the "Out of the Box" category (all scales). Even though it's full of traditional aftermarket goodies, they were all in the box! Nothing else needed to be added.
My Gannet (1:72 Revell of Germany) earned the Best Aircraft award last year, so I entered it in the "Masters" category. It won the category and got this neat "Best of the Masters" plaque.

Hi Bill many congratulations to you my friend. I didn't saw any of the other works but looking yours i know why you got so many trophies 😉.
Can you put a legend on it saying the kit/scale/and the category?
Congratulations again.
P.S. in the end the "ugliest" was the most beautiful.

Hi Vitor, I think I was adding the captions while you were viewing the gallery! They've all been added now, so you can see some more detail about the awards. Cheers!

Thanks everyone! It was a good day, I didn't expect all of these awards, especially the helicopter. But I'll take it, as they say. Holger, second place for the Cat was OK considering first place was my Lightning! Judges are funny, I expected the F-14 would do better than the Lightning because of the salt painting technique, and because it's an American subject. But I think they took pity on the Lightning because of all the work I did to correct all of the Trumpeter errors. 🙂 🙂
Best of show was a model of the first US aircraft carrier, the Langley. I've got to get a picture of that to show you guys - it was freaking incredible!!

Album info
Here are my entries into our local contest this year. I forgot my camera and phone so I wasn't able to get any pictures of the other entries (and there were some good ones). I'll get those pictures from our club's official photographer and post them here as soon as I can.
