Note on the 1:72 Puma: I managed to crush essential parts of the gun. The part with the most damage is the one that attaches the gun to the turret. After that i decided to try the Tamiya spray i had on it. That didn't go well either, but i learned from this.

But I made a small mistake with the gun. Is the Puma cursed?

Hi Eend,
nothing, that couldn't be corrected.
I made the same mistake with a 3,7cm FlaK. Don't give up.

The Muzzle Brake problem is solved. But how can i fix the gun inside the turret? The way i mounted it now it's pretty loose. Am i missing something, or is this the way it should work?

Hmm, without a picture difficult to say...

I uploaded three new pictures. I hope they are clear enough.

Hi,

part no. 81 is supposed to hold the gun barrel. Have you glued part no. 81 already to the turret part 80? If yes, you need to remove it.

Then insert the gun barrel into the turret, turn it about 45 degrees and push the barrel so far, that the 2 pins are outside the turret. Turn the barrel 45 degrees back, then glue part no. 81 to the turret part no. 80. Then you can continue with part no. 82 and fix the muzzel (part nos. 84 and 85) to the barrel.

Check this out. On one picture you can see, where the pins should be outside the turret. The other shows the openings in part no. 81, where the pins will rest.

Thanks for your answer. I managed to remove 81 and insert the gun barrel. Instruction manual wasn't very clear Aboutaleb that part. Thank you for your help!!!

Nice work so far. Why do you consider the 1/72 Puma a failure?

Because i sprayed it far too long with the rattle can i used, causing paint to gather on some edges. But you can't see that on the picture, because most ofitmhappened on the other side. Also some wheels are a bit out of alignment, and i broke a part of the gun..

Can't sleep.. 🙁 i'm thinking of adding more camo, it looks a bit empty. And the antenna, shouldn't it be black? After that: decals.

Camo ready and i've put some decals on.. But don't look at them too closely 🙂

slivering sucks, you thought you did everything right, but then... 😠
I had painted all my antennas in a metal tone (black with some silver) and no one complained😉

I used the exact same method on a king tiger for a friend and they were perfect. But the ones on my Puma don't look right 🙁 I should have listened to the advice people gave me after i put the decals on my Pz IV..

Nice Puma, Eend! Looking good, so far!

Thanks Holger 🙂 only have to do the wheels and i want to try weathering. The kits that i've finished so far look like toys. (But it reminds me that i have to hide them when my 2 year old nephew comes to visit)

Hi Eend,
Your model looks fine.
On piccie 11 there is a "Citadel" rattlecan in the background, hehehe.
On same picture is it your Heat Evaluation Testcenter for plasticmodels? 🙂🙂🙂

The wheels still need work, but i've fitted them to see how they fit and how it looks. They still need a lot of painting/cleaning up and wheels #1 and #3 were my first attempts at painting them.

I did some experimenting with black/white oil paint mixed with a bit of Revell Anthracite Matt enamel paint.. Which gave me something that looked almost like Panzer Grau... I used the sponge technique to try to simulate spots where the paint has 'worn out'. But it's a bit overdone.. :/

I think it looks just fine Eend, maybe put a little rust wash around the edges where the panzer gray meets the dunkelgelb.....I'd use pigments but enamel or oil washes would work, IMHO...

Eend
That's a good idea, i'll give it a shot.. But how do i do that? Add water/turpentine/other thinner and let it 'flow' around the Panzer grey spots?

james johnson
for enamels/oils I'd go with a turpenoid product, also known as odorless turpentine and dilute the paint way down......or do as I do and buy the stuff from AK Interactive such as their "Light Rust" AK 046. What you do is what you're not supposed to do in other brush painting, that is let the paint "unload" from the brush. The wash will naturally find it's way around the border between the panzer gray and the sand base color.......
