while doing some Picture research I came across this:

a Jagdpanzer IV/L48 with modified side skirts and Zimmerit.... I had no choice, I had to build it 😉
Zimmerit was done with putty and a screwdriver, all in all I did just a few small modifications, but no aftermarket stuff

the zimmerit came out really well i need to practice more what kind of putty are you using, Milliput ? also i dont think the skirts were modified so much as bent by falling off the road and from the back ground it appears to be in a dump so most likely done by the allies to get it off the road and then later recovered to this dump thats my thoughts on the pic

I used so called "Kombi-Spachtel" (pre mixed putty for repairing cars) thinned it with paint thinner
Concerning the skirts: i read an article about these modified version, seems like the crew bolted it on the vehicle itself, according to the article the pic is from an allied scrapyard somewhere in fance

construction is almost done by now... went a bit crazy on the hatches (will proof that with pics later), and came to the skirts... that got me a bit thinking but i think I solved the mysterium 😉

the normal skirts were mountet on bracket using 4 screws per mounting/8 per plate, these seem to be missing on my vehicle, but you can see the remaining holes on the firt three plates (marked with blue). The last Plate seems to lack these, so might be some kind of a replacemet.
All plates share a pair of (maybe) bolts, so this must be the way they´re attatched to the vehicle, not a nice construction, but one that worked 😉

the bolts for the last plate are there they are located at the bend in the plates and now that you point it out i can see the extra bolt in the center of the standard 4 bolt arrangement that must be how they are further secured but again it does not make sense for the last plate as the extra bolt does not match up standard arrangement, the secret in how it was done is hidden by the skirts so it worked pretty good, now lets see some photo's of your progress i cant wait

pehw... gonna get a long nightshift... I´m currentlx testing my way of bringing the 4 holes in the plates... guess I´d done with this in an hour or so... if I shouldn´t hear my bed crying for me😉

currently uploading, I´m halfway through the skirts, made them of scrap clear plastic (not the best idea if your´re taking photos... thats why the´re painted).
I mainly focused on the periscope on the comaders hatch, scatched almost all missing parts... the scisors-scope comes from a nice Tristar Set SF 14z Periscope & Rk 31 Aim..pe Set (Tristar 35033, 1:35)

yeah, they look a bit goofy right now, but by the time you paint and weather them they'll look great I'm sure.......hard to go TOO wrong with them. Staying posted, thanks for the pics! By the way, how come the Germans never (that I've seen) put skirts on Panthers and the Tiger Series?

The tigers and panthers had their own kind of side skirts and plus they really dont need them becaust of the thick armore on the side of a tiger1 and the side skirts on panthers, king tigers, and jagdtigers were suppose to help protect the running gear and internal lower hull components

seems logical...
got the frst coat of yellow on, unfortunataly I had used a non-permanent marker to draw some lines before applying the Zimmerit, of course I forgot about that....now I ended up with some nice blue spots on the front hull 🤔

Spend a weekend home again... so a litte progress on the Jagdpanzer.. pre-shading done and back sides of the skirts painted... will get a clsoe finish till the end of the year....

it isn´t really painted painted jet, but I´m almost done with the crew... taken from an MiniArt and a Tristar set (Self-Propelled Gun Crew (MiniArt 35008, 1:35) and Self-propelled Gun Crew set (Tristar 35007, 1:35))

The Tristar one is way superior, with way better and crisp detail ...and easier to paint. The MiniArt comander is a bit odd anyway (quite unusual), but better than an empty hatch 😉

Looking good. And Self-propelled Gun Crew set (Tristar 35007, 1:35) are great figures. The same figure you used sits in my Hornisse, the rest will go into the Nashorn.
