So far the major letdown is the AFV parts - the wheel runners are too short and are not level either. Easily fixed with putty but maybe AFV should measure next time before realeasing thousands of after-market bits that don't fit? o_0

Sorry to hear about the issues with the AFV Club item. And I agree, the English spelling on some of the commercial products out there is utterly ridiculous!
Anyway, I will be following this closely because I am also contemplating reworking some of the older kits I have. Plus, I am absolutely addicted to German half-tracks 😉 so can't go wrong there 🙂
Good luck and please do keep us posted on progress and/or any issues with the kit 👍 it will be interesting to see how this develops! 🙂

I will post more pics tomorrow, today was spent removing the parts, cleaning up mold lines, and, yes filling sink holes. I should mention also that supposedly the AFV front suspension is missing a steering arm, I will check this later. Apart from the PE, there's not THAT many parts and should go together fairly quickly I think! Thanks for the interest!

I found two articles in some older mags I had.....I now realize I must add triangular flanges behind the armoured gun plate, and I may also thin it down, it seems quite overscale. More to follow! 🙂

A few simple tweaks to add would be wiring for headlights, maybe some extra suspension details, tire valves, and those little lugs on the front cowl. Nothing too serious! ^_^

Sounds good! 😉 Looking forward to the additional pictures 👍
And yeah, if there's not too much cleaning up to do, it should be a fairly quick build, right? 🙂
As for the gun shield, yes, it does seem overly thick and lacking any detail 😉 but it's probably not that hard to make it look more accurate 👍
Can't wait to see what's going to happen next in this build! 😛

Nice project ... I've got another of that horrible Ausf C... not shure if I could get the motivation together😉
Concerning spelling mistakes... what pain to look at kits if you're German I've seen everything from unpronounceable to completely wrong words ... not even speaking of the Brummbar ("mumble pub/bar"😢 issue 😄

Lol, ah yes the ol' Brummbar! Yeah the old ausf.c ...well it's probably not worth adding aftermarket bits, maybe do out of the box/nostalgia or a what-if scenario?

I´ve already got one finished in a "do it right" attempt, but the second one I got as a bonus somewere will have to be some kind of fun build...

Nice! Good going! Love how you're paying attention to detail and rework/add them 👍
Funny how the things we think are simple, quick builds turn out to be much more involving than anticipated, eh? 😉
Carpet monster... yeah... it is always hungry, isn't it? 😛
Hope your cough goes away soon 👍

Another problem with the AFV add-on is the drive sprocket fit - there are two plugs that fit on the sprocket but if you push them in the whole way, they sit at an angle....I decided to use epoxy and just position them as best I could. Things are going slowly as LA and Chicago are going into overtime in the hockey game! 😛

It's been a long time due to work issues, but back to work on this. Took a break from the kit and made a small base out of a dollar store giftbox lid, some old Tamiya bricks, stir sticks and some cut up business cards....lol

I primed the stonework for the little "workshop/factory" ruin for the half track, and basically finished the brickwork section. I added some wooden trim, a hinge, and some posters.

Thanks. One thing I like about doing stone and brick is getting to use that massive selection of humbrol paints! 😛

next on list is add a big steel door on a track for the shop entrance and then rust everything up. Add a couple more small details then back to the track itself. Bought some new CA glue so I can get back to the dreaded PE parts (o)_(*)

I guess I'm calling the little base pretty much done, a couple of ejection marks I missed will get covered with foliage. I also am slowly getting back to the 215/9, built up the gun yesterday. The carpet monster got a piece of PE so I will try to replicate it or hide it....lol..

Album info
This will be my first build log in a photo album. I am using the older Tamiya kit # 35147, the Sd.Kfz.251/9 so-called "Kanonenwagen". In addition I am using bits of the Eduard PE set for the 251/1, and the AFV club "Whells and Tracks". (someone should really get an English proofreader! - AFV I am talkin' to you!). I also have a few little bits and bobs from the spares box like some Dragon halftrack bits, a few US jerrycans as well as some German ones, and a couple of tools from the Italeri workshop set.
